it was a fun tourtament nick and thanks again for running it. I mean it was a little small but thats ok so is AU lol. It was well run and fun. Ok now on to my tourtament report. Its all off memory so correct me if im wrong with any of it..

Round 1 chase playing cb top

G1. it was a blowout... he controls the whole game then goes for will with double drain backup and i only have 2 counters for it..he warrens for 20 guys and beats my ass.

G2 is a long at least more fought out game on my part. we go back and forth for awhile and he has top out and eventually resolves tinker and gets out sphinx in the meanwhile beating me down with a trinket mage. i eventually top into lotus and hardcast my own sphinx with force back for his drain. we slowly play draw go and eventually we trade sphinxs since im forced to block cause im low on life. He slowly kills me with trinket mage.

Round 2 Visna harris playing brgu homebrew tezz build

G1. i play turn 1 bob but draw all mana sources, sphinx and will for like 5 turns. First bob flip of the day was sphinx, not a good start to the day for me Sad. A couple turns later he plays his own bob and assembles key vault and repeals his bob and wins.

G2.I assemble turn 2 key vault

G3.I duress him turn 1 and see a very light mana source hand with tolarian and volc being his only lands with no artifacts so i take his only real relevant card in his hand which is brainstorm.I assemble turn 3 key vault with force back

Round 3 James hangley with the N.Y.S.E crew playing 5c stacks

G1 I play 1 one bob and have a force of will in my hand. He plays turn 1 tangle wire and i make a mistake by casting force of will on his wire bc he plays a turn 2 welder. But with my bob in play all game i eventually draw lots of cards and cast rebuild which allows me to tinker out sphinx with a force of will and other goodies in my hand

G2 I keep a good hand with lots of gas but he plays turn 1 chalice on 0 and i have lotus in my hand but no force. Maybe i should have mulled cause i didnt have a force but if he didnt play turn 1 chalice on 0 i was gonna be in very good shape. Throughout the game he plays sphere another chalice on 2, Tangle wire and eventually drops a stack with my 2 lands on table so i scoop it up.

G3 He is mana short and i get a turn 3 tinker for sphinx and all he has is a welder on board GG

Round 4 Andrew playing Tps( sorry man forgot your last name)

G1 We go back and forth for awhile and he resolves Bargain. I dont have to say much more

G2 He doesnt have much and i rip tezz off the top and i win

G3 This is a real long game. I play a trinisphere and it resolves and this stalls the game for awhile since im light on mana. He resolves a bargain but some how it takes him a long time to find a bounce spell and when he tries to chain my trin to combo off i tap my lonley 3 mana to mana drain it. While hes trying to find an answer for my trinisphere all im topdecking is duress after duress and proceed to duress him hopefully getting something good. This game eventually goes to time and its a 1-1 draw. Ill take that cause with bargain out i didnt loose! lol

Round 5 Jeff Folinus playing tps

Jeff is a very very good player and i was very worried coming into this matchup. We both need to win to top 8 so here we go.

G1 He plays a sol ring i think turn 1 and passes. On my turn 1 i take the only really relevant card in his hand being vamp tutor. I have key out with mana vault and draw vamp in a couple turns so i eot vamp obv for time vault and go infinite.

G2. This is more of a game. He isnt having much luck drawing good cards while i have a bob on the table taking him for 2 turn and drawing cards. He tries for memory jar off lotus pedal i think and it resolves so on my turn all i can do is hurkyls recall him to slow him. He doesnt draw a land so he cant cast memory jar again. He eventually plays bargain with force back but luckly for me on the turn b4 he goes for bargain i revealed force from bob. He doesnt know i have pyroblast so he goes for it. He plays bargain i force pitching fact he forces back and i pyroblast. I win with key vault a couple turns later

Top 8 Colin playing Tps. Thats right 3 Tps players in a row! ahhhhhhh

To my surprise this match i get the most busted hands ever and blow him out in 2 games.

G1 I mull to 6 and have lotus, recall, force, force, Fire/ice and repeal. I keep bc i have 2 Fow and recall. I recall but draw no lands. I draw mana crypt and play it then repeal it hopeing to hit a land, well i dont. So i fire ice his land and draw a land. I draw gifts and will and force off recall by the way. I finally pass turn and he plays mox and passes. I Eot gifts for time vault, votaic key a force of will and something else cant remember. But at this point it doesnt really matter cause if he had a force of will he would have tried to use it on my gifts. On my turn i cast yawg will with like 4 counter backup and play key vault out of my graveyard.

G2 i keep my 7 while he mulls to 5. My 7 cards are tolarian academy, sapphire, emerald, ruby, drain, tezz, sea and brainstorm. he plays island and passes. I topdeck trinisphere and play all my moxen tolarian and trin with drain up. Next turn i topdeck a drain and play tezzeret with double drain backup. GG

most busted hands i have ever gotten so i cant complain.

Top 4 Ron with his Fow dredge deck.

G1 I play key turn 1 and pass. I have double force and a brainstorm so i figured all i can hope for is try to find time vault some how but i begin to topdeck mana source after mana source for 6 turns and dredge does what it does game 1

G2 My sb for this match is pretty good cause I am sick of all my friends loosing to dredge all the time and i Dont want to be another. I keep my 7 its 5 land and 2 extirpate. I kept being since i know hes playing fow. U cant force of will extirpates so i eventually get all his bridges and ichorids so hes forced to win the aggro route without bridge tokens. I eventually have so much hate on the board he cant recover. I win with tinker sphinx

G3 i mull to 6 with a needle and a force of will. This was a long game. In this game i also extirpate both his bridges and his ichorids so he is forced again to win the aggro route. This gives me plenty of time to find a answer. I draw vamp and on his Eot i find jailer to slow him down even more  to buy more time for me to find key vault or tinker. He has a stinkweed imp out so tinker wasnt gonna do it. So i eventually draw fire/ice and then draw demonic. I demonic for tinker and find sphinx. I fire/ice his stinkweed and since he cant dredge anymore cause of jailer and cant bazzar because of my needle sphinx takes him down for the win!

Im so glad i beat him cause this is the same guy that beat my friend steve in the finals at N.Y.S.E 2.

Finals is steve with tps

Its like 9 something at night so im tired and wanna go home cause i got over an hour drive. He wants to play it out but he is willing to work a split out.  Thanks alot steve i really appreciate it man i was tired and didnt want to play against tps for the 4th time. Congrats steve for once another finals apperance ur on a role man keep it up!

props.... For most of top 8 was blue bell people. Nice little town. Nick for running a great event

slops.. people being too loud in top 8 and me for making that mistake against james in round 3 idk what i was thinking.

And sorry for not posting my own thread i cant for some reason themanadrain wont let me. Good job guys and once again a hell of a job ur doing steve. See everyone at Blue bell on the 3rd

Sorry I couldn't make it out this past weekend, it sounded like a fun event.  Turns out I probably wouldn't have reasonably had a ride either, but if you run another one, or something similar I'll do my best to make it.

Way to be so specific on the Stax decks, but then just group all the Vault/Key decks as "Tezzeret"

Dave good job making the finals. In the future try to remember that first strike doesn't care about deathtouch(so long as it does more than its toughness and such).

To bad I couldn't make my way down there see you cats in 2 wks.

Yeah, bad beats going on in the semifinals. Congrats on the win. I'm going to tinker with the FoWchorid list a bit, expect some nice surprises next time.

@daveshotme, First of congrats on splitting in the finals.  Just to give a bit more details on our match.

G1. I win the roll lead with Duress taking Force of Will setting up a turn 2 Time Walk->Vamp/Recall since I didn't have Rituals or threats in my hand.  You draw Duress for the turn taking my Vamp and leading me with a subpar grip.  I cast TW, draw a couple more blanks and you assemble combo with Vamp for Time Vault cycle Rebuild into it.

G2. I lead with Land->Sol Ring, my grip has Mox,Land,Memory Jar, Bargain, but no Force or Duress.  I cast turn 2 Jar with exactly enough mana on your turn you Hurks me.  I don't have a third land or mana source so I can't play the Jar this turn but I drew FoW to have backup on Jar next turn.  I go for Bargain since I drew a Ritual for the turn, you Force I Force back but REB allows Force to resolve.  After that Bob Reveals a Drain, I cast a Remora which gets Drained, eventually go for Jar which gets Drained you fetched for Drain off DT.  On my last turn I go for Ritual its gets countered, and then DT->BS(Recall was attempted at some point) and have to hope to hit a redic 2 cards like Lotus+Will, Lotus+Tinker etc to win since I don't have any other mana.  I don't get there.

Yeah, we really need the top 8 decklists in an 18 person tournament.
