ANNOUNCEMENT: MEANDECK OPEN – VINTAGE TOURNAMENT
Sunday, November, 22, 2009

The Mean Deck Open returns!   It's been almost five months since our last Vintage tournament!

WHAT: VINTAGE! Tournament

Swiss + Top 8.

Entry is $20

We have raised our entry fee from $15 to $20 for several reasons.   The store owner will put a larger percentage of the entry into the prize pool, AND we want to extend our prize pool to the entire top 8.   We think these two great advantages are worth the downside of having to pay $5 more.

PRIZES:

CASH!!!
1st Place: 40% of Prize Pool
2nd Place: 20% of Prize Pool
3rd Place: 10% of Prize Pool
4th Place: 10% of Prize Pool
5th-8th: 5% of prize pool each

However, if there is just a cut to top 4, prize distribution as follows:
1st Place: 50%
2nd Place: 25%
3rd and 4th Place: 12.5%

Prize Pool will be 80% of entry fees!

Minimum $200 guaranteed!

Also door prizes will be awarded throughout the tournament! If you have suggestions or requests, PM me with that information and we’ll see what we can do!

PROXIES: UNLIMITED PROXIES will be permitted.  HOWEVER, you must adhere to the Starcitygames Rules for Proxies:

http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560

ALSO, *** NOTE *** Collector's Edition and International Edition cards will be LEGAL for this tournament

If you intend on running CE or IE cards, you MUST:

1) use completely opaque sleeves, AND
2) Double Sleeve your card OR use a looser fitting sleeves where the cut of the corner of the card is not visible.  Otherwise, you must replace your sleeves before the top 8.

WHEN: Sunday, November, 22, 2009

The store opens at 11:30 AM. Registration starts at 12:30. Registration will close and the tournament begins at 1PM sharp.

WHERE:

The Soldiery
4256 N. High St.
Columbus, Ohio 43214

BONUS if we get more than 24 players, a FREE single elimination side event will begin with the final round of swiss with a grand prize of $40 (which will come from the main prize pool).

If you need to car pool to Columbus, post your needs and we'll find someone whom you can travel with.   I'll start a signup if necessary.

FINALLY, don't miss our post-game chowdown at Thurmans.

Put the address in your GPS so you can get there after the tournament!

Don't miss on eating this:

This tournament will be great fun, good laughs, and amazing times.    Hope you can make it!

Sounds like a really fun time. I have yet to make it down to ohio for an event. Tho, that sandwitch alone might be worth the trip!!!

Team Serious!  Uh oh!

* Will Twaun Pwnertown Punch A Thrumantor!?

* Will Mark Trogdon dream crush Paul Mastriano?

* Will Matt Hazard make someone Eat Lead?

* Will Paul Mastriano drag Rich Shay out to this event from Pittsburgh?

* Will Don, The Threatenator, threaten someone's life in a Vintage tournament, too?

* Will someone play Spoiler and play DREDGE!?

* Which Asian Vintage Master will place highest: Nam Tran, Jerry Yang, Paul Kim, or Mark Sun?  (Take yer bets!)

* WIll the Cleveland Browns Beat the Detroit Lions?

All these questions and more will be answered on November 22nd!!

There will never be any "winners" resulting from this game, that's for sure.

The Lions vs The Rhode Island Jr. PeeWee allstar team is more of a match

But there WILL be a winner of the meandeck open!   Lions and Browns be damned!

Let's bring Vintage back to the midwest!  They can only get 16 players in chicago.  Let's start rebuilding, and show them that Ohio, MI, IN, WV, etc can put on a good show.

They have been working on the Purple Cobra entrance from Dodgeball

Sincere thanks to everyone who came!   It's wonderful to see Vintage growing in the mid-west again!   This was the largest Vintage Meandeck Open since 2004, I believe.

This was a great tournament, and I think everyone really enjoyed it, and also enjoyed the free side event.

The prize payout was over $450!

I think we should set as a target 33 or more players for the next tournament.   The more folks we get, the better the prize pool.   I'll be looking at some dates in January right now.    Let me know if there is a Sunday in January that works better for folks, and I'll take that under consideration ASAP.

I will be sure to make it in January as long as it is late January, and possible bring in between 3-10 more people with me. We are in Ohio, and we play here.  Especially if it's all proxy, since most ppl I know play t2 and don't have ANY cards before.....the latest 6 sets?  And I personally have no cards lol.  I wish i coulda made it to this one, but its close to the end of my college quarter, and it's crunch time here, finals a lil more important  Wink Hope to see the results soon, and here when the next one is up.

When can we expect the T8 lists and something resembling a metagame report?

Thanks.
