I play Rivers Affinity with 1 MD change (-1 City of Traitors, +1 Gaea's Cradle, for proxy reasons) Ravager has proxy Sword of Fire/Ice on it

JeffTheFob fighting over SOMETHING.

Kevin does a happy dance behind his Trinisphere and resolved beatsticks.

at least 4 Shop decks today (2 Mono-Brown, 2 5-Color) apparently my meta breakdown is incorrect for this guy.

Lots of new faces, and only 1 Ichorid deck!

Those are suspended Ancestral Visons (whatever the suspend Recall is)

I faced 3 new people in the first three rounds.  Regulars Michael Klemic and Brent get to play each other. Smile

Regulars Dnine and Alex Block get to play each other.

Marit Lage vs 12/12 Trampling Dreadnaught. Who is your money on?

Brent has to hold off Klemic's Fishies while at like 7 life with Bob in play.

Crushing Chamber didn't own the field today.

Dan's army of Moxen are sure to overrun Alex's home defence of Ornithopters and Frogs.

Lin's trying to hold off the Negators with broken unfair Vintage combos

Klemic's Mox Winning UBWG deckname? FOBKILLER

A field of fatties holds off the Zombie Hoardes...

Brent's Fact or Fiction reveals the awesome sauce.

I could write a primer on what not to do based on Alex's plays this game.  To be fair, 1st turn Oath and Energy Flux hurts bad.

LotusHead faces down DOMINATING LICID!!!  Yes, it was kinda scary having it on the field, messing with my combos.
My metalworker got bounced like 12 times this game (including Cryptic Commanded bounces)

JUDGE! (LotusHead points to Licid and makes face).  Somehow I killed this thing by forcing Tristan to Rebuild with no extra mana to un-Dominate his Licid.

The Tahoe crew travels 200 miles to get paired up against each other.  That red thing is a 4ft straw custom built for sucking down caffeine while gaming.

I beat Dominating Licid by stealing game 1, and lucksacking game 2, but Tristan beat three other people to get to top 8.  Here's one! Smile

Campee shows he's good at Vintage.

Michael lost this game, after telling me he's in pretty good shape (or maybe a bystander told me that)

Tristan has at least one good vintage card in his deck, and it won him this game (4 different dudes was enough to get Klemic to scoop)

Campee dispatched 5Ancestrals.dec to the 7 Hells in Top 8

Pics are complete now.

Dan beat me in the semi-finals. Had to mulligan games 2 and 3 into crappy hands. Meh.

Michael won the mox, no split.

Dominating Licid Control looks amazing, and sure to take the Vintage world by storm. I need to get some before they skyrocket.

For fun I assembled the classic Rivers Affinity, but my teammate already wanted to play Crushing Chamber. So I bought 7 minor cards using store credit, and swapped a City of Brass proxy for a real Gaea's Cradle.

Round 1: Adam playing ???
I win the die roll, through down a small beater and a Thorn of Amethyst.  They both stick.
Adam plays a land and perhaps a mox and passes.  I through down another beater (probably a ravager), and continue the onslaught.
Adam is caught off guard at facing affinity/Thorn, and is trying to assmeble mana to lock me out with Tezz and Tolarian.  But he is one mana short of happiness.
Game two, I lay down the thorns, and the swords and the beats and game two ends quickly, and I'm off to take pics.

Round 2: Jason? playing ???
Game 1, I masterfully win the die roll, then throw down some beats and a Thorn, Jason plays a Strip Mine and a Black Lotus.
I lay down probably a trike, and Jason scoops.
Game 2, he plays Underground Sea and Thoughtseizes me, taking my onely beater in a grip of land/mana.
I waste his land, play topdecked thorn, and put out beat after beat.  Jason scoops soon.

Round 3: Tristan playing (I thought) mono-blue.
Game 1: I masterfully win the die roll again, and play against my 3rd stranger of the day.
I lay down some beats, and maybe a thorn, and Tristan scoops a few turns later.
Game 2: I play out stuff, and stuff gets forced, so I play out more stuff, and stuff gets forced again.  Then Dominating Licid hits the field.
WTF?   I sided in 2 Staff of Domination and 3 Jester's Caps because I had no idea what I was really facing.  I had Staff and two Metalworkers in hand, and I had to play stuff to bait counters, and somehow figure out how to play around his damn Licid.  I have Trikes maindeck, but none in hand.
I Cap Tristan and take Energy Flux, Arcane Lab x2, and try to get an active Metalworker.  He stole one, and used it to tap for mana a few times, then kept boucing my Staff or Worker to keep me from having any real plays (My deck was NOT giving me some more lands to work with)  Every time I played a spell I tapped my Ancient Tomb, and even got myself down to like 6 or 4 life when I FINALLY got a Metalworker in play, and had it survive long enough to actually untap.  I tap it, revealing 7 artifacts (keeping my newly drawn Tolarian Academy face down on the table while he inspected my 7 cards).  I played out all my stuff, then said go, then Dan said "What is that card?" pointing to the face down card. I pick it up and it's the Tolarian Academy! worth easily 8 mana by now, so I attempt to say "Actually, I play Tolarian and play this and this".  A judge call later, and I have to not play my Academy, because I did in fact say "I'm done" or "Go". Sad
Tristan is down to being able to cast maybe one spell under double thorn, so I play a juicy spell for him to counter, and then swing with Trike, Rav for like 10 (he was at 20 this whole time), and then Machine Gun him with the Trike/Rav combo for the win!

Round 4: ID
Round 5: ID

Top 8 Vs Dan Messiano's TV Control
Game 1 I see only my oppening two Ancient Tombs as mana, have to endure double Force of Will, Maindeck Ingot Chewer, Darkblast on my Servitor as it is getting clamped and much more unfortunate stuff.  All while taking 2 or 4 damage each turn from my Ancient Tombs
Game 2 is a bit more of a game, as I have stuff OTHER than Ancient Tomb in my hand, but Ancient Tomb and City/Waste make me make the hard choices of when to play what.  Eventually, I get a Trike on the Field with a Sword all waiting for him, and get in one good swing.  I topdecked a Workshop, so had the ability play a 2nd Trike to have 6 Insta Damage availiable with Dan at 7 life and possibly 1 mana away from victory.  He lets the 2nd trike resolve, I pass the turn, he draws then remembered that he could have countered  the 2nd Trike.  It had slipped his mind (it happens when Thorns are messing with your plays) and I was able to end the game.
Game 3: My deck gives me Ancient Tombs and crap.  I should probably learn how to mulligan this deck betterjj, but we had great games!
I collect my firm handshake from judge Eric Levine and call it a day!

Great coverage (as always). Really appreciate that, LotusHead!

Again, a winning Noble Fish list without Selkies. Same guy?

Thanks for the kudos, Tobi.  Anyone can post pics in this forum (er, at least reply with pics), and I wrote a primer that has a link in my sig for those that would like to do it.  It even works with cellphone pics if you know how to email yourself cellphone pics.

As far as Klemic's list, and again winning.  I don't know.  His lists are sometimes traditional netdecks, but as of late have been homebrew, cutting edge underdog lists.  But as to a prior selkie-less fish deck, I don't know what you mean.

Found it. It was Mike Noble, playing UWG Fish in Blue Bell for a winning finish. He also played without Selkies:

It seems that the disrupting effect of Clique is at least of comparable power to the card drawing of Selkie.
