re: The Music, I own their self-titled album and Welcome to the North and used to like them, I didn't realize they were still releasing material.

Their lead singer went on a three or four year drug bender, then cleaned up and the band released 'Strength in Numbers'.  I really liked the album.  They are, supposedly, releasing an album in 2011.

Muse is supposed to release an album in 2011 as well.  Black Holes & Revelations was pretty good, but I can't say that I was a huge fan of The Resistance.  I would love to see them get back to their Origin of Symmetry days/sound a little more.

I've been out of the musical loop for a good year or so, and lately I've just been listening to Death From Above 1979 and a few indie bands.  If you've got recommendations, I'm game...

I've been listening to:

Together, New Pornographers
Great Escape, The Rifles
Fantasies, Metric
Transference, Spoon (so-so by their standards, IMO)
Recapturing the Banjo, Otis Taylor
Brain Thrust Mastery, We are Scientists

I haven't bought much new either.

In my wish list for 2010 are:  The Orchard, Ra Ra Riot; Sigh no More, Mumford & Sons; The Suburbs, Arcade Fire; Interpol (self-titled); Invented, Jimmy Eat World

I really liked Twin Cinema, along with the debut We Are Scientists album.  Spoon has been great for a long time.  I don't know the others though - so thank you for the heads up!

Your movies are hilarious.

I think my favorite by far is the response to Dave McNamara on Sperling’s Sun Titan Oath deck, because I turned it around in like 10 minutes (although it helps if you know the back story, ie that he always beats me and has a white-boy fro).  It is amazing how easy that website is to use, and how hilarious.

I would love to do reader Q&As in this method going forward.  I’d even include something embedded in an article if I could get away with it.

I also hope its clear that these were meant to be in jest and that all of the targets - including myself, Menendian, Sperling, McNamara, my fiancee, my close friend Matt Estadt, Max McCall, and Chapin (and I guess Brad Nelson, but I'd be happy if someone thought I was a Magical robot killing machine from the future) - should not take offense.

Was good to see you again at Waterbury, sir.  Shame the Chili's was so hell-bent on closing at their designated closing time.

That was pretty terrible yes... (food was good even for my European standards which are way way higher then you damn Americans)... also the company being The Slayer of Meandeck and Nick "The Slayer of RND" Detwiler along with you bunch of misfits made up for a lot Wink

I had a great time and obviously nothing has a place in the New Duck Order, except maybe NuFish and Goblins... because if a deck isn't Fish it's obviously goblins! unless the goblin deck runs disruptive creatures then it turns into NuGoblinFish which is the purest form of a hybrid to be found. It might just actually be better then anything out there.

If you're using Chili's as an example of "good food", I question your European standards (and perhaps should rethink any trips to BoM)

No seriously, Chili’s is ok and all, but I wouldn’t call it good food either, although it helped soak up those margaritas just fine.  Then again I was playing with Elves for dollars, so… maybe it failed there as well.

You know, if I didn't have to play babysitter I would have loved to subsidize my trip a little further by playing Elves for dollars.  I remember how much those Elves loved Workshops.

I specified "NO WORKSHOPS".  If you want to play your 5C Stax deck from last summer, I'd consider it.  My list hasn't changed at all.

I haven't played 5C in nearly a year, I would love the opportunity to do so again.  I don't think I'm going to be able to make BB on the 2nd, but maybe I'll see you at TravisCon IV on the 16th of October?  Or is that too close to the wedding?

Actually, woman-themed.  You may graduate to that hobby one day as well.

It means that all I know about the wedding is what I'm wearing (which is a pretty sweet looking tux, actually) and the less I'm involved in anything else, the happier I am.

I'd wager that is exactly how the vast majority of weddings go, actually.  Women have been planning their perfect wedding since their infancy.  They have had a dream since they were 5 years old on how their wedding would be.  They want it to be perfect.

Men can't comprehend this in the slightest.  The only comparison to be made would be if we were finally given a chance to become a superhero, and we knew that our lifelong dream was finally coming true and had to make sure we didn't make the wrong decision about which super powers we would gain.

I remember running miscellaneous errands on my sister's wedding day, and I was actually quite busy for a good portion of the morning as a group of women ran around the house on the verge of panic.  Then I go to help my brother-in-law prepare for the wedding, and all I really did to help him out was hand him a lighter for our cigars.

Obviously......

Say what you will about Ancient Deities... but that Yawgmoth guy sure strikes a good Bargain... making people bend to his Will is also something he's pretty good at... maybe it's because of his hidden agenda.

Your article on SCG today was really excellent and quite touching. While it seems from your article that you are a lucky man, I think it's also obvious that your Wife is a lucky woman. Best wishes for continued good luck together!

Somebody asked me how many decks I had built.  I wasn't sure, so I thought it'd be fun to check.   This does not include pre-constructed decks (ie Jace vs Chandra, Slivers, Fire & Lightning, etc) nor have I included either of my EDH decks as both are missing 15+ cards at the moment, haven't played EDH in probably a year.  Anyway, looks like an even 30!

Standard:
U/W Control[3 Proxy Jace]
U/B Control [4 Proxy Jace]
Boros
B/R Vampires [4 Proxy Fetches]
Valakut
G/W Quest

Thopters (Note:  Will convert to Dreadstill soon) [4 Force Proxies]
ANT (U/B/g)
Belcher (1-Land) [2 Chrome Mox, 1 Taiga, 4 LED Proxies]

Interesting post.

I only really play Vintage, so:

Espresso Stax (No proxies.)
Sanctified Dredge (1 Bazaar proxied.  Damn you Bazaar of Baghdad!!!)
Trygon Tezz (put it together again yesterday, took GAT apart.  Power and two Jace proxies.)
Noble Fish (thinking about making this into Oath.  Power proxies, nothing else.)
Bob Tendrils (power proxies, nothing else.)

What do you think, Tidespout Oath, or Noble Fish?
