I was told it changed ownership once or twice after the original owner was seriously injured in an altercation outside of the store. The way I heard it, he asked some guy not to park in a handicapped space and the asshole hit him with his car and nearly killed him.

The above did happen, but the shop operated for at least a couple years after those events.  They held a T1 tourney in May of 2009, which you can find here -http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=37753.0 , and if I recall correctly, another one after that.

I'd be interested to know if they have in fact gone out of business, or simply changed phone numbers.

I remember the original owner talking a world of shit to me on this forum out of nowhere.  No wonder his mouth got him into real trouble, I actually find that pretty comical.

That's a special brand of flame, insulting a guy who had to have steel inserted into his leg because he tried to help some guy who was getting carjacked.  Makes me think you deserved whatever he said to you.

Calm down, guys. No warnings -- no one is flaming anyone yet. But please don't escalate.

Um....  I don't really have anything to do with anyone personally from the store, but I was just wondering what happened to it.  If the guy closed the store, anyone know what he did with the cards?  They had alot of pretty good stuff there.  If he closed the store, is he still selling just without a store?

The owner closed shop. From what I heard, it was a lot of stress and the profits were not rewarding enough.

Sorry for the necro... Wink

I wasn't aware the shop had closed. If you're still looking for So. Cal Vintage, your best bet would be to check out Frank's in Industry, if they're still in buisness. It's a wholesale warehouse for collectors and they do hold MTG tourny's there. They were only open 2 days a week but it's a good place to get contacts.

If he's still there Mike is a great guy and a very fair dealer, he also was working on getting a storefront so that's an option. There is also Shuffle and Cut who deals there. Scott can be an aquired taste, Matt tends to be more personable.

Tracerbullet used to set up much of the Vintage scene and if he's still playing could help you out.

Other than that, I'm not sure if there are any new shops around the area. We did make the trip up north to Eudemonia a number of times. Great people there, and alot of fun.

As far as the altercation, the owner of the complex was having cars towed from the parking lot late at night. There was alot of people parking there to go to the bar down the street which had limited parking. Apparently letting someone know of the situation was deserving of being run down.

Juggernaut, if you're still around, lol I don't even remember that situation, so I can't really comment to much.

Shout out to Pat! Hope all's going well with you. Also a shout out to John, Rob, Chris, Gio, Josh and everyone else from the old days.
