Why is the type of alteration any different?  This is all a subjective assessment...if that guy wants it bleached(which I would never do), it is no sufferer to him than a jap drain is to you.

There's plenty of people who play japanese cards who would love my drains.  CrashTest, Danny Friedman, Jake Kempfer, PiZZero, etc.  They all do jap cards.

I know.  But, these are subjective personal choices...if the only thing that matters is really the owners opinion...then it is really the same in terms of making the card permanently altered

In fairness, people who like bleaching is a subset of people who like altered cards. Pretty much all the arguments for or against altered cards applies.

I don't like it, but people are free to do what they want with their own property. The fact that this time I'm not one of those who appreciate the alteration doesn't change that.

Why is this even a topic? If you choose to put $400 rims or $20 rims on your 1996 Chevy Impala, who gives a damn? It's still your Impala.

Bleached, Japanese, Painted, Miscut, Portuguese, and any other variety of cards are in the eye of the beholder. It's about what they enjoy, not you (the opining assclown with tastes differing enough that you feel the need to publicly decry the 'defamation' of something that will never be yours).

THIS

It seems my cards launched this tangent and I've been quiet up to now.... they're my cards; I'll do whatever I damn well please with them.

You don't actually 'bleach' them.
Leaving cards in a window for months/years will take all the color out of them leaving a blue tinted black/white card.

@Soly: Yeah, I bet Danny is foaming at the mouth for your FoWs/Drains hahaha

Yeah, those intentionally faded cards are just...ugh. I mean, again, their cards, but I don't even see them as cool or anything.

My take on bleaching is that it's a cute idea, but I'm not a huge fan of the results. They're interestingly different in some cases, but I'd much rather see something with more artistic effort than "Add tape, leave on windowsill for X days". Part of my personal appreciation is the creativity and skill that went into the alteration. I think that's why I like Yawg's work so much.
