So I'm like, " I know that we're sending a rather dangerous contingent of NE / Central PA ringers "
So then DA is all, "Just as well, this saves you the embarrassment that would have accompanied being mowed down along with your fellow PA players."
Yet at the end of the day, the man from PA holds all the chips. Just wait til you have one of these that ISN'T SIX HOURS FROM US.
There's good magic players in PA? Interesting story, I'd like more details. Also I really have to follow these threads more to get in on the jibber jabber.

Hey guys, thank you all for coming out and making this a super fun event! We had an even 70 players and team New York took down the Grudge Match I Title. NE will have to wait for a rematch. I will post a TO report tomorrow with top 8 deck lists and metagame breakdown.

Ack! Congratulations, foreignors 2nd'd, although I didn't play any NY/PA'ers, I was no where near the t8. The event was completely awesome in spite of this.

So my losses were to the Joe I think won, and Travis with Fish who made top 4. Guess I should have stayed in at 2-2. It's too bad I didn't get to play against mono_white_unpowered_fountain _of_youth.dec all day.
Also, Jesse Martin, thanks for putting up with my incredible hand game two, with Library, Lotus, Pyroblast, Force, Bluecard, Mindbreak Trap and friends. I probably should have put some of those strong cards on the bottom when I was fatesealing you (Grim Tutor, Gifts, etc), but my hand was so strong I knew it didn't matter, just made the game drag a little.
Really great event. It was incredible to see 70 players there.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

He was at 1-1 before that match...I need to know who he beat. I sat across from him during the 65-players pairing (before I saw what he was playing), but then he realized he was supposed to be in the next seat over. And then there was a re-pair anyway.

Also heard there was an "Oath" desk with Repay in Kind, Platinum Angel, and Lich. Thanks for running the event. I had a good start at 3-0, but then managed to lose my next three.

Also heard there was an "Oath" desk with Repay in Kind, Platinum Angel, and Lich. Was that the one with Mox Diamond, Serra Sanctum, Scroll Rack and *crucially* Mystic Snake? If so, I need that list for my gauntlet. I think he also fit in Burning Wish, though I didn't get to see what his wishboard contained.

NB: This post is made without my administrator-hat on. It's not against the rules, so ignore what follows if you want.
Guys, it would be nice if we could knock it off with the condescension towards new/casual players on the boards, and especially in this thread. Those of you who were around for the heyday of Vintage in 2004-2006 probably remember, as I do, that a large proportion of the players pushing up attendance figures at tournaments could be described as "casual." Oath/Plats/Lich/Repay in Kind is not going to win a tournament, much less a marquee event, but its pilot kicked in another $25 entrance fee, raised overall attendance figures, and may well have gotten friends to come to the tournament who otherwise wouldn't have.
Vintage struggles with a reputation as an elitist, closed, insular format. The Vintage community is sometimes seen the same way. I think that's really unfortunate because I (for the most part) don't believe those things to be true and I think they do hurt our format's growth. Making fun of newbs is all well and good, but if I went to a Vintage tournament for the first time ever and then found people making fun of me afterwards in the main thread devoted to that tournament on TMD, I might not come back.

I'm probably a little out of line above, yes, but it's frustrating to find out that I faced in the first four rounds, going 2-2, the eventual winner, another top 4 finisher, and someone coming off top 8 at Gencon. I'll suck it up and keep my mouth shut in the future.

Lets start this off a bit different. Leave the noobs alone! At one time im sure we all thought that shivin dragon ,force of nature, homelands, and fallen empires were "good" in magic. Well, maybe not fallen empires. I personally wanna thank all the new players for commin out. To all the vets in vintage , teach them ! I got a few topics I wanna cover real quick. THE GRUDGE MATCH. Congrats to team Ny ! It came down to a top 8 match to see who would end up as the victor. Pa was winning all the way up till that point. Id say its safe to say that the best vintage players do in fact live in the tri sate area! I wanna thank Evan and Paul for joining me on team pa. PROPS To the champ. Joe Brown. This guy is a fucking monster! Tho it does seem that the n.e.p.a people are. Fellow council member Evan H. After his first round loss he just smashed his way all the way to the top 8. Props to Travis. As I have said a few times already ,This guy is balls deep good. Congrats to the rest of the top 8! SLOPS The fact that there was more bugs and heat inside the shop then outside. Like Way too many bugs. Mullin to 4. Overall it was a good event. I hope that we can do the grudge match in Ny and Philly. Id like to see what team would end up with the big fat W, after we had three events.
