Blue Bell Game Day #7!

    Saturday, August 14th, 2010
    Alternate Universes
    1530 DeKalb Pike
    Blue Bell, PA 19422

   Vintage Event

Start Time: 12:00 Noon (Registration @ 11:00 AM)
        Entry Fee: $25
        Format: Vintage
K-Value: Unsanctioned, 10 proxies allowed for free. You can purchase up to five more proxies at $1 each.
        REL: Competitive (like a PTQ)
Decklists will be required (and published).

The Prizes: (these prizes are based on +/- 40 players, and will definitely go up if we have more)
        1st Place: UL Mox Jet!
        2nd Place: $200 in credit
        3rd + 4th Place: $100 in table credit
5th-8th Place: $50 in table credit
Highest player with no proxies: $25 in table credit

2010 Player of the Year Race:
This event will count towards Player of the Year 2010! Players can earn points throughout the year by playing vintage, each match win is worth 3 points, each draw is worth 1 point, and each loss is worth 0 points (just like the swiss points system used in tournaments). Players in the Top 8 will be awarded bonus points based on their finish, as follows:

        1st place: 12 points
        2nd place: 9 points
        3rd + 4th place: 6 points
        5th - 8th place: 3 points

   Side Events:

        Vintage:

Start Time: After the last swiss round.
        Entry Fee: $10
        Format: Vintage
        K-Value: Unsanctioned, 15 proxies

        Prizes:
1st Place: $50 in table credit
2nd Place: $25 in table credit
3rd - 8th: Based on the number of players.

My Player of the Year contest has nothing to do with Wizards of the Coast Player of the Year contest.  Do not confuse the two.  Mine is for participants in my unsanctioned Vintage tournaments.

Edit: Beta Jet MIA: UL jet will be given out along with higher other prizes.

I'm going with Max Brown, Tom Dixon and Jake Gans, but you should make the trip too.  I know several other guys that are all looking for a means there.  I tried calling you last night before I realized the whole phone thing...  Get in touch with me today if you can, we should talk about this.

To my knowledge the top 8 was:
3x Trygon Tezz
1x Std Tez w/ Oath board
2x Bob Tendrils (Elias and Brad)
1x 5c Stax (Eric Markowitz)
1x MUD

The slots I'm not 100% on is if their was a fish player or not and what particular version of Shops Eric was on.

The brackets were
Tez v. Tez
Tez v. Bob Tendrils
MUD v. Bob Tendrils
5c Stax v. Fish

Tez v. 5c Stax
Bob Tendrils v. MUD

Tez v. MUD

Trygon Tezz took down the finals against MUD.

I think the mystery deck was a 4th Trygon Tezz list.  I played him in the swiss and recall stand outs like Vault/Key, Mana Drain, Jace, and other cards that pegged him on that deck.

There were a lot of Jaces today.  By my count, there may have been as many as 17 in the top 8.

One of my friends, Matt Mercer, made top 8.  He didn't run Trygon-Tezz.  Rather, he ran a Tezzeret build with a heavy counter suite and a Oath conversion package in the sideboard.

I placed 9th and had an excellent time.

The finals were Nate Thompson playing Trygon Tezz and Joe Brown (both NEPA guys) playing Stax.

They both decided to split the prize, but they played it out

Nate wins 2-1, Trygon Predators being the gamesavers

I personally ran the only JaceStorm that day, went 4-2, beating out dredge, bob tezz, noble fish, and TPS. Lost both games against Trygon Tezz.
