Well. I'm going to look at the dates for October one more time and I'll see if it's possible not to fight with a PTQ or GP. I'll post back at the end of the week to let everyone know what's up with the date.

Nick your earlier events were so fantastic I'll try to come up to DC for this thing. I'll try to bring some of the DC crew with me, but if not I'll just make the train and pull an over-nighter on Amtrak. Upside for that: Ronkonkomo train station would work just fine.

Is a sealed GP really gonna take that many players from a vintage event?

I think a GP of any format within a few hundred miles will draw more players away from a big Vintage event than, say, a big Standard event. Us Eternal players are more likely to travel IMO.
Hopefully you can reschedule the NYSE Nick, because I really would like to do both, and I'm afraid we won't have much success convincing WotC to reschedule GP: Toronto.

I disagree, a GP in a different country, that needs a passport now. I doubt this will seriously take away from the event.....

The date on this event will have to stand.
I do not have another weekend available to me between all the events scheduled by other T/O's and the store.
Then again, everyone in Toronto will be missing the greatest party of all time run by the God of Thunder...

Though I would like to go to GP: Toronto, nothing's set in stone yet. Regardless of what happens I will be requesting that Friday through Monday off. So if plans for Toronto fall through I'll definitely be up for a little pre-tourney party at the God of Thunder's. And since I won't have to worry about being in work the next day, I can definitely ball at the afterparty as well.

GP Toronto is going to be a sick party, I am trying to create interest in a Vintage side event on the sunday, as they already booked a legacy at like 5 saturday night, but that be when I crack my first beer.

We're two weeks out from this event, and I hope to see everyone soon, but I also wanted to mention something important to me.
Last weekend, while in NYC, one of our regulars, Alex Owen, had his Vintage deck stolen. I have spent the last week trying to get some of my regulars, and friends of Alex, to help out, and chip in to help build his deck again. I have committed an English Mana Drain, staples like Yawgmoth's Will and Vampiric Tutor, along with commons, uncommons, sleeves and a deckbox. The generosity of the local community has astounded me, as we have put together the following:
2x Foil Zendikar Island 1x Swamp 1x Tropical Island 4x Misty Rainforest
4x Dark Confidant 3x Trygon Predator
1x Mana Crypt 1x Sensei's Divining Top 1x Sol Ring 1x Foil Voltaic Key 1x Foil Inkwell Leviathan
1x Brainstorm 1x Mystical Tutor 1x Merchant Scroll 1x Tinker
4x Spell Pierce 1x Mana Drain 2x Force of Will
3x Thoughtseize 1x Vampiric Tutor 1x Demonic Tutor 1x Yawgmoth's Will
1x Nature's Claim
SB: 2x Yixlid Jailer 4x Leyline of the Void 1x Pyroblast 2x Red Elemental Blast 2x Nature's Claim 1x Forest
Alex had no power (thank God), but I am still short in my effort to put together a copy of this deck with 15 proxies. I am asking anyone who is feeling generous to make a donation. I am currently short:
1x Tolarian Academy 1x Tropical Island 3x Polluted Delta 3x Underground Sea 2x Force of Will 1x Mana Drain 2x Sower of Temptation
If you would like to make a donation, it would be appreciated. If you would like to chip in, but don't have the cards we need, I had another way to help out.
My side events have usually been 12 man events for $100+ in prizes. I am looking to run the side event for cards that have already been donated to help out the cause, with everyone paying the standard $10 entry.
One of the things that separates Vintage is the sense of community. We are a niche format, and while this means that we may never see 300 man Vintage tournaments in the U.S. (while we see 300 man PTQ's all the time), it means that we are closer to one another. We play with, and against, friends. This has meant the world to me, as I have essentially retired from non Vintage formats because I enjoyed the competition, sense of community, and tournament scene that Vintage provides. Help out. Show that we are a community. And help a good guy get back in.
Thanks in advance...

Additionally, because of what has gone on with Joe Brown, if you want to make it to the tournament Joe, you can play 100% proxies if you want. If you had intended on making it up to this, just let me know and I'll put together as much of your deck as possible (should be able to do the whole thing minus power and Shops).

Sorry Nick, don't think I am going to be able to make it out to this one. It's the wifes day off so she doesnt allow magic to take place on those days obviously. Though i would love to win another recall. Hope everything goes well for you and the event is a success!!

I will not be attending this event. My friend Tim comes back from Guantanimo Bay this day, and then moves to Fort Leavenworth, KS the following Wednesday. This is literally the only chance I get to see him in the foreseeable future without one of us booking a flight. I will see you November 20th, if not for an NYSE than at least for James P Hangley III Esquire's party. Besides, I haven't sleeved a Workshop since August, I need the time to relearn how to open every hand with a Trinisphere.

If Alex needs to borrow cards for this, let me know before Friday night. I won't be able to make it to this due to work.
Because of this, anything Alex needs, i can bring down to Mark's on Friday and give to him or Nick or whoever to borrow for the weekend.
