Pennsylvania players, the time has come!  It's your opportunity to choose the team that will represent you in the upcoming New England vs. New York vs. Pennsylvania Grudge Match on January 8th.

The rules for voting are these:

1. You can only vote for Team Pennsylvania if you are a Pennsylvania player.  You don't have to be planning to come to the Grudge Match, though.

2.  To verify that all votes come from Pennsylvania players only, the voting thread isn't a blind poll.  Instead, to cast your vote, make a post with your choices.  If you're not especially active in the Pennsylvania Vintage scene, it might help to mention the area where you live, or a tournament in Pennsylvania that you played in.

3.  You can make up to 3 choices for the main team.  The 3 players with the most votes will be the primary members for Team Pennsylvania.  You can only choose from the list of candidates below.

4.  You can also vote for 3 additional "understudies" for Team Pennsylvania.  In case someone on the main team can't make it, one of the understudies will fill in for them.  You can choose anyone you want to be an understudy, whether or not they're on the ballot for the main team.  They do need to be a Pennsylvania player though, and it would probably be good to ensure they're planning to go before voting for them.

5.  The voting for the Grudge Match team will be open until January 6th.  I’m extending it for all three regions to allow all players the most amount of time possible to determine the team.  Happy voting!

The ballot for the main roster for Team Pennsylvania:

RALPH PARSINITZ ("HAGRID")
Matt Elias ("voltron00x")
Jeremy Beaver
Jeff Folinus (“Gekoratel”)
Keith Seals (“Mr. Grim”)
Mark Hornung (“Womba”)
Ryan Glackin ("King Squee")
Nick Coss ("Iron_Chef")
Steve Nowakowski ("Personalbackfire")
Sam Berse (“Ravager Sam”)
Joe Brown
Dave Reitnauer (“DaveShotMe”)
Evan Hundertmark (“Metalhead666”)
Shawn Griffiths (“Kamelion”)
Allen Fulmer (“XxtSundaybxX”)

I have included a list of some, but not all, of Pennsylvania’s best Vintage pilots.  If you’re not on the list, and would like to be added on, please let me know and I’ll add you.  If you’re on the list, and you don’t think that you’ll be able to make the Grudge Match, please let me know and I’ll subtract your name from the list of potential candidates.

Happy voting, and may the best team win!

If Matt Elias doesn't make the PA team, something grossly wrong has happened.

I'd be up for adding a Team NJ if you guys really want...

I am going to offer some explination since I don't think some of these previous ballots make any sense.

Main:
Jeff Folinus: Easily one of the better/best players who shows up to any given vintage event in our area. He also consistently does well.
Matt Elias: Player of the year, SCG Legacy Champ, all around all-star, man, myth, legend.. Yea all of that and he plays Tendrils decks which makes his awesome level sky rocket
Stephen Nowakowski: I am a bit arrogant when it comes to Vintage but I consistently do well when I play so theres that.

Subs:
Mark Hornung: Best dredge player in the region? I don't know. Kid has some skills
Dave Reitnnauer- He may play crappy decks (cough shops) but hes been making top 8 a lot recently I think he deserves to be here somewhere
Allen Fulmer- Stepped away, came back, won an event, hes good and will probably continue to do well.

Main
Matt Elias - not voting for him is like not voting for Finkel/Nassif for Hall of Fame
"El Tigre" - I'm biased since were friends but when he feels like playing matches and not texting does pretty well.
Jeff Folinus - shameless self vote

Alt
Mark Hornung - has missed a couple events but still does well whenever he feels like playing Bazaar
Joe Brown - class act and solid player, real glad he got his deck back
David Reitnnauer - been on a solid run and nothing wrong with playing Shops or whatever else wins

Main team:

Nick Coss (He's won, what, 12 straight swiss matches? Just don't be one-and-done in Top 8!)
Matt Elias (Has had more Top 8's this year than I've had good days.)
Me (Hey, I have one NYSE win this year and a Vintage Worlds Top 8!)

Alternates:

Mark Horny (Stop Glackining around and just play Dredge.)
Joe Brown (Has won the two biggest events of the year.)
Keith Seals (Love his pink Palm Centro! And he's a pretty good player too.)

The top three in this order:

1. Matt Elias
2. Jeremy Beaver
3. Keith Seals

Subs:

1. Ryan Galackin
2. Joe Brown
3. Nick Coss

Too many good players who are as good as one another on any given day to just pick three.  Good luck to the top three I picked hope they make it and represent P.A. well in the tournament.

I’m perfectly fine with not voting for myself, and similarly, not upset if someone doesn’t vote for me.

On any given day, the number of players in PA good enough to win this challenge certainly exceeds 10 – ESPECIALLY if NJ is included, giving us Jeff and Sam.

In no order:  Me, Beaver, Joe Brown, Joe Pace, Chris M, Steve, Jeff, Sam, Mark, Evan, Keith, Brad, Allen, Dave, Josh P, Dom, and on and on.

It’s an honor to get voted for this, and I definitely plan on attending, but if someone puts a list together and I don’t make it, believe me, I don’t take it personally or consider it a slight.  I think the team that I put out there, without me on it, is easily, EASILY, several orders of magnitude better than the best team from either of the other regions.  This is supposed to be about how we're awesome and the other states are donkey crap, or are such donkey crap that they're in the contest as geographic regions and not even individual states to prevent it from looking like we're picking on the Special Olympics.

I think this team should be Sam Berse, Mark Hornung and Matt Elias all piloting Dredge. It would be hilarious.

I guess I should submit my vote for the team that will not only be in top 8 but will be in the top 4 of the tournament and thus winning the team portion.

Main Team:
Matt Elias (Blue Bell Player of the Year, this guy is an auto lock for top 8.)
Sam Berse (It would be tough to find a top 8 without this guy's name not there. I heard he can even play Shops.)
Mark Hornung (I heard this random ringer is somewhat good I guess. I even heard this guy took a bet that predicted he would make top 8 at Waterbury and he did top 8. Rumor has it he will be taking bets for this event :Wescoe Check:: Seems like a lock top 8.)

Alternates:
Jeff Folinus (Hands down one of the tightest players in vintage. Rarely punts a game, you actually have to beat this guy, and that is not a very easy thing to do.)
Steve Nowakowski (Often in or playing for top 8 in the final round of swiss. This guy will be in the running all day.)
Joe Brown (Defending Grudge Match Champ....nuff said.)

Looking at everyone in PA as a whole the vote is ridiculously difficult. Top to bottom I would say that this state is the best in terms of player quality and I feel bad I can't vote everyone in because I am sure no matter which three make it we will be winning this one. That said, given past performance and top 8 % this team should easily cruise to victory and throughly crush the other teams. Either way I will be attending this event, and I will be winning this event, just a FYI for everyone  Wink

does anyone realize I play magic anymore (and live in NJ)?

I'm going to represent Team NJ at the Grudge match by dealing and hanging out with Jeff Menges all day.

Since Nick is not playing I hereby amend my vote as follows:

Main:

Matt Elias
Joe Brown
Me

Alternates:

Mark Horny
Keith Seals (he draws a mighty fine playmat as well!)
Sam Berse

Elias and Mark Horny are both right, this is an extraordinarily difficult team to pick. There are lots of people this year with multiple good finishes on their resumes. How the hell did those damn New Yawkers win the first Grudge Match again?

Though I appreciate the honor of being listed as one of the best pilot's in PA (I will accept the fact that I am one of the better pilot's in PA though), I cannot say that I whole heartedly believe I would be the best candidate for the event.

Therefore,

Team PA:

Matt Elias
Steve Nowakowski
Joe Brown

SUBS:

Jeremy Beaver
Jeff Folinus
Keith Seals

However, though I will be representing PA as a single player, like the last NYSE Lotus event, I plan on doing everything in my power to take this one down as well!

Good luck to everyone!!!

Messrs. Hornung, Elias, and Berse

-Andrew K., 8th place at Blue Bell 11/20/10

P.S. In no way is this vote an admission of having received sexual favors from Mr. Hornung.
