There will be one final tune up in the form of an N.Y.S.E. Lite before January 8th’s Grudge Match.

Here's the info:

What:

N.Y.S.E. Lite
$15, 15 proxy, non-sanctioned Vintage tournament

Prize Structure:

1st:  Jace the Mind Sculptor
2nd: Revised Volcanic Island

Where:

The Comicbook Depot
2847 Jerusalem Avenue
Wantagh, NY 11793-2016
(516) 221-9337

When:

Sunday, January 2nd
11am registration, 12pm start

Important information:

1.  The Jace is guaranteed at 10 entrants, the Volcanic Island is guaranteed at 12.  Prize support will extend to top four at 16 entrants with something along the lines of good blue fetches, or other Vintage staples being given out to third and fourth.

2.  There will be no deck registration sheets in use for this event.

It feels like forever since the last major N.Y.S.E. event, but it’s on the horizon, and this is your last shot to get some repetitions in before that event!

I hope to see everybody there…

Should be there again.  I'll try to not be up since 4 am this time though.  Although it didn't work out so bad last time...

okay i pray aroun

Interpretation 1:

okay i pray aroun =
Okay, I pray around.

Meaning: Max prays around, like some people sleep around.  If you find him on his knees with his eyes closed, don't worry, he's just taking care of business.

Interpretation 2:

okay i pray aroun =
Okay, I'll play a round.

Meaning:  Why the hell would you just play one round?  Wouldn't it be better to play for the full event?  What the hell?

Interpretation 3:

okay i pray aroun =
Okay, I'll play around

Meaning: Max will play around Comicbook Depot, but not inside Depot where the tournament is taking place.

Interpretation 4:

okay i pray aroun =
Okay, I'll play around

Meaning:  Max will play in the event, but he won't be playing a real deck.  He'll play something fake.  Like Dark Times...

Result:  I have no idea what you meant.  Congratulations...

We had 18 players show up for the event today.  The finals of Tom Dixon (Keeper) vs. Ralph Parsinitz (Oath) saw Ralph take down another tournament.  The top 8 featured 3 Dredge decks, one Mono Red Workshop deck, a very non-traditional TPS deck that ran Ignite Memories, Keeper, Oath and Dark Times.

The prize support for the event was increased to:

1st - Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2nd - DCI Foil Wasteland (the old one)
3rd/4th - Volcanic Island

Two separate four man side events were run, one for a Force of Will, one for a foil Urza's Legacy Memory Jar.  Matt Pate won the foil Memory Jar and Mike Bauer won the Force of Will.

I spoke with Alan from Depot, and there will be another N.Y.S.E. Lite held on 1/23.  Support for that event is not yet confirmed.
