Scholars has been supporting Vintage in New England for as long as I can remember. They are the site of my first Vintage tournament (I was playing with Miracle Grow in 2001) Their weekly tournament series might have the richest history ever. With the summer coming up, we're looking to expand our player base and introduce weekly Vintage to a whole new group of players. For those of you who don't know about it: This is Monday Night Vintage!with: Scholar's Bookstore 34 Central Sq Bridgewater, MA Phone: (508) 279-1712 Google Maps DirectionsAmple parking in rear. $6 entry fee Infinite proxy Mondays at 7:30 Swiss rounds appropriate to attendance (9-16 4 rounds, 17-32 5 rounds) Bring your friends - more players is more fun!. Bring your enemies if they're bad at Magic - more players equals better the prizes! (Don't bring them if they're actually terrible people - we are just looking to have fun and get better at Vintage ) Prizes are paid out to the Top 4. Prize pool is the number of players times $8 store credit. It's incredible! I am always buying or trading for any and all cards – turn your unwanted cards into cash!

Been there for a few events, had a great time at each. I just wish this had viable transportation for inner city (Boston) folks.

I flew over an ocean to attend one of these (and do a road trip obv) The crew and guys playing are really solid and friendly, these are extremely well run... and just because I can't resist: Ample parking in rear.

I always have sick trades, and I have recently picked up cards to get people ready for the GP. Pretty much anything you're looking for I either have, or can get within a week. For the collectors out there, I've been picking up tons of stuff. Here are some highlights from cards acquired at the Prerelease: Beta sickness: Mintygoodness: Zebrasavagness:

Just an FYI if anyone had the day off and was thinking of coming down that Scholars is closed on the 4th, so there won't be any Vintage this week. Continues as normal on the 11th.

A Zombie Horde approaches! A fun new way to play Magic is at Scholars for our Monday Night Vintage events. Battle against seemingly endless waves of the undead during the bye, between rounds, or after the tournament! More info here.

It's 2012, and the end is near. Whatever kind of apocalypse you rooting for, get ready for it at Monday Night Vintage! Zombies? We have The Horde, so you can practice your zombie survival skills. Federal Government collapse? Magic cards will be the new currency, once the dollar dies. Come down and acquire cards from my massive trade stock. Your money on the Rapture? Everyone knows Jesus loves himself a game of Vintage. No matter how it all ends, nothing prepares you better than playing every week at Scholar's Monday Night Vintage!

Yes, there is a group of 5 regulars who almost always come and beyond that it's random. Typically have between 6-9.

As is the long standing tradition at Monday Night Vintage, the new set is usable starting with the pre-release. Time to see how big a splash Avacyn Restored makes. My guess is Dredge just got a lot better.

For those of you who did not hear the unfortunate news, I'm sad to say Scholars will be closing at the end of June. Their business was first and foremost a textbook store, and that business has run it's course. Their support of the gaming community, and in particular Vintage, was always a labor of love, and they cannot continue this without their core business. I have enjoyed playing at Scholars, helping with their events, and organizing memorable tournaments for over a decade. They are the site of what may be the longest running Vintage series in the world. Scholars was the place where many innovations were refined or unleashed that changed Vintage over the years. Players from hours away, even as far as Europe, would make the pilgrimage to this mecca of competitive and friendly play. They were a center piece of the Vintage community in good times and in bad. Scholars will be missed.
Store credit will be honored until they close their doors.
There are 3 more Monday Night Vintages left. I hope to see faces I have not seen in a while make the trip back before the end.

I will do my best to make it down for at least one of the final Monday Night Tourney's. I owe a lot of good memories to Dave's shop and certainly wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to pay the store one last visit.

Let me know when you do. Carpoolski? I was going to try and go this Monday, but Somethig may have co e up that will prevent that. If that is the case I will probably try and go the 25th. That being said, I think we should see if ELD wants to throw a tourney their on the weekend for old one sake . What say you ELD?
