I'm on the wrong continent to make this, but I just wanted to say that it's awesome you're doing this. The news of all the thefts at Gencon has made me a little paranoid about my cards and I can only guess at what it actually feels like to have some stolen. I hope you get a great turn out, and have a really fun even, best of luck to you.

Fantastic support here guys I'm glad to be a part of the community.  Given better circumstances for me I would have gladly dropped everything to make it to this, but unfortunately this is not a good week for that.

I will be there in spirit!

Well, between Wife and magic, wife won.  Have fun, gentlemen.  I hope this gets an awesome turnout.

I hope you guys got a good turnout for this tournament. As someone who recently got there entire collection stolen I know how it feels to lose so much money in cards. Hopefully both Shay and Williams will get a good jumpstart thanks to this.

Unfortunately, the turnout for this was disappointing.  We had 8 people, a few of whom only showed up since the Legacy event in Vestal was canceled.  I played as a 9th player to add $25 in there under the understanding that I would not take any prize.

As such we took in $225 and gave away close to half of that in prizes($115 in prizes).  The remaining $110 coupled with donations from Blaine Christensen, Scott Hughes, and JP Kohler brought us to $190 in total.

Rich, if you like I can paypal your half and you can use it to buy some of the cards you lost.

Dave, what charity would you like me to make a donation to in your name?

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Ray, ship me a paypal address and I'll chip $50 into the pool.

Due to the small turnout please give my share to Rich Shay. I appreciate everyone that came out and showed support. I may end up recovering the value of my things. I am currently working with my home owners insurance to file a claim. Thanks again guys and I hope to see you at an event soon.

It is easy, after being the victim of theft, to have a grim view of humanity. After all, without any provocation or reason beyond raw greed, one or more people have stolen for themselves what I had worked so hard to acquire. You all know that Magic collections aren't simply collections of random cards. They are very personal, and the objects of much personal time and attention. This card represents a tournament victory. That one represents your speculation for the next big thing. And that one represents a deck that you'd enjoyed in times past.

But you, Vintage community, left me with no reason to doubt humanity. Blaine, Scott, JP, and everyone who went -- thank you. Ray, thank you so much for organizing this. It makes me extremely happy to know that, when Vintage players encountered difficulty, the Vintage community came together to help. This sort of event makes me feel very proud to be a part of this community.
