Let’s make a huge effort to bring Vintage back to the state it was many years ago.  Let’s support the format by talking about it, promoting it, and sharing it with others.  There are a ton of Vintage events happening soon, so even if you can’t make mine, try to support those that you can.  Better yet, build a second deck and invite someone new to Vintage to give it a shot.  We can be the Vintage we were years ago, but it needs to be a community effort.  Let’s make this happen.

Without further ado, the info:

TMD OPEN 15
Gamingetc Tournament Center and SuperStore
555 Lordship Boulevard (Exit 30 off I95)
Stratford CT 06615
1-203-296-9961

Time: Registration: 10:00 - 11:00 am
Tourney Starts PROMPTLY at 11:00 am(To avoid a prolonged tournament, this will be strictly enforced. Latecomers will be subject to a round 1 loss.)

Dopeness Factor: The sum of all F(n) when n is every integer from 2 to 2007, if for each integer n>1, we let F(n) be the number of solutions to the equation sin{x}=sin{(nx)} on the interval [0,\pi].

Day 1
October 8, 2011
Cost: $30 Entry Fee
(Because I don't work for the store, I don't have a credit card machine...sorry for the inconvenience)

Format - Type One with FIFTEEN proxies. Use http://forums.starcitygames.com/showthread.php?11903 as a guideline for what is acceptable for proxying.

Cut: Cut to top 8 if we have less or equal to 96 players
or top 16 if we have more than 96 players

Prizes: I will be using a “based on participants” prize scale.

Here is the formula I used to come up with these numbers, so all is perfectly out in the open.
Entry Fee * Number of Participants – ($400 for judges/staff) – ($400 for t-shirts(door prizes) and Playmats) – ($50 for Magic Trivia Prizes) - ($100 for free side event) = Total purse for 1-8th place.
* These numbers don’t include money brought in for paid-for-byes because there is no way for me to predict this.  This money WILL be added to the prize support.
**Cash = 0.8 * Vendor Credit

Sample Prize Support based on 120 Participants
1st Prize – 1000 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $800 in cash + a paid for round 1 bye and Free Entry at TMD Open 16 + an official TMD Open 16 Custom Playmat
2nd Prize –500 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $400 in cash
3rd-4th Prize – 280 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $225 in cash
5th-8th Prize – 155 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $125 in cash

2nd Prize –475 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $375 in cash
3rd-4th Prize – 250 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $200 in cash
5th-8th Prize – 125 vendor credit or I will buy back the credit for $100 in cash

At the end of round 3 we will be taking sign ups for a FREE tournament for an Italian Legends Mana Drain. The tournament will require you to use the same deck used in the main event(to make life infinitely freakin' easier) and to ensure speedy signups and send off. This free tournament will be single elimination.

BYES:
The top finishers(top is a relative word based on the size of the event) of ANY Type 1 tournament in the world will be rewarded with the ability to purchase a round one bye at the upcoming TMD Open 15. The following guidelines are to be considered:
1.) The tournament must have at least 25 people.
2.) If the tournament has between 25 and 49 people, the winner may purchase a bye for $10.
3.) If the tournament has between 50 and 74 people, the winner AND/OR the 2nd place finisher may purchase a bye for $10 each.
4.) If the tournament has 75+ people, the top 4 players may purchase a bye for $10

* If you are traveling from far away(of which tournaments I did not record winners) and feel you deserve the right to purchase a bye, simply let me know and I will adjust the list above to reflect it.
** With byes passing down from players already qualified for one, you may want to check this list carefully, and inform any friends that may not know they are qualified for a round 1 bye.

This list will be updated as time goes on.

Team rivalry, a.k.a. Braggin Rights Supreme October 2011:
Here is how its gonna go down.  Teams of three will agree prior to the event to play as a team and will register(seperate from a deck registration...it will be done on a different sheet of paper).  Each teams cost is $9...$3 per person.  Then, at the end of the tournament, the teams with the highest combined number of match points(top 16 matches-finals count as 3 points per match, just as in the swiss) will win.

If enough teams enter, there may be a second place prizes or more, but the number of teams entering, and thus the collected entry fees, will determine the prizes.  In the event of a tie for match points, the average opponent match win percentage of the three players on each team will be computed and compared.

After round 3 team designations will be inserted into players names, so teams may view each other team's players and match points on the pairings/standings.

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Mark Hornung seems to be of the impression that a Pennsylvania team is stronger than the NY team of my choice.  I beg to differ.

Here's the deal: at this event I will be registering a team of Shawn Anthony, Raf Forino and I.  We are Team New York.  The smart money is on us winning the event, but at the very least, I intend on burying Team PA.

So, Pennsylvanians, bring it.  And prepare to go down.  Hard.

No impression here, only facts. Team PA would destroy any three NY players you bring. It was only because you guys were so weak that we had to give you Anthony to make it so you guys would win at least one game. I would like to introduce vintage's newest team to crush to NY scrubs....Team Top Deck Games....Mark Hornung, Joe Brown, and Ryan Glackin.....Coached and Captianed by the Great Nick Coss!!! Good luck Team NY....your gonna need it.....

Which reminds me, Teams PA, NJ and NE still owe us our winnings from beating all of you at the last Grudge Match.

You get Pikula, I get Vinnie Forino.  You get Potucek, I get Gans.  We could continue.

I'm probably coming to this. Which state do I get to play for? I've lived in CT, NY and PA at some point.

Team PA would gladly welcome you with open arms Chris!!

Nick you could even pick Team PA...Pikula, Elias, Hornung, Fulmer, Glackin, Brown, Potucek, Folinus....it doesn't matter who you pick because your gonna ship the cheddar!!!!

Which reminds me, Teams PA, NJ and NE still owe us our winnings from beating all of you at the last Grudge Match.

You get Pikula, I get Vinnie Forino.  You get Potucek, I get Gans.  We could continue.

Are you sure you want to continue??  Wink...I am pretty sure there is a drop off for Team NY, where as with Team PA we are still loaded....

Sure, I'm cool with that.  I'll take Roland Chang, Josh Meckes and Eastman.

I still have Fulmer, Elias, AND Folinus left!!!!! Pretty unreal...This really isn't even close, if you want to concede now I understand. It would at least spare you from the rub ins after we win....

Anthony, R. Forino, Detwiler, V. Forino, Gans, Chang, Meckes, Lawrence.  That's 8 to your 8.

LoL this is absurd.

It was only because you guys were so weak that we had to give you Anthony to make it so you guys would win at least one game

Good one!

I also think it is a little more fairer of a competition now that I've been traded. Wink

I'm probably not going, and wouldn't be that helpful as a player for any team, but I'll gladly engage in bets on which decks can and cannot possibly win TMD 15 Smile

Is there a Team Midwest/Meandeck if Demars, Mastriano and Menendian are going?
