Hey Vintage community!

Here's an idea I'd like to run by everyone to incorporate Snapcaster Mage into a decent Fish deck. I am not sure how to make the creature base more solid, but Champion of the Parish was the best beater I could think of that would require the least mana investment. My assertion is that the reason Noble Fish has seen such success is that the mana investment for threats is so low that you frequently have the ability to leave mana up for disruption. The slots in Noble Fish devoted to creatures are also few because you get a lot of mileage out of said creatures. My hope is that a UWB Fish deck could achieve the same tightness, but that requires some testing and feedback to get the card choices and numbers straight. I promise that your skepticism and concerns will not be met with flip answers like "I understand what you're saying, but this really is correct." I have not tested this list at all and I know it might be crap. However, I am going to be clear on my goal.

1. Incorporate Snapcaster Mage into a Fish deck.
2. Have that deck abuse the Mage.

Ok, here goes:

Human Fish

Land (17):
4 Flooded Strand
1 Polluted Delta
2 Underground Sea
4 Tundra
1 Island
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine

Artifacts (7):
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Jet
3 Null Rod

Creatures (17):
4 Champion of the Parish
4 Dark Confidant
3 Snapcaster Mage
4 Meddling Mage
2 Mikaeus, the Lunarch

Instants (18):
4 Force Of Will
4 Daze
4 Steel Sabotage
3 Flusterstorm
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
1 Mystical Tutor

Sorceries (1):
1 Time Walk

Sideboard
3 Kataki, War’s Wage
3 Ethersworn Canonist
3 Swords To Plowshares
3 Yixlid Jailer
3 Surgical Extraction

Thanks for your feedback in advance

Any reason for only three null rod? With four daze I would think you would want to max on mana denial.

How is the oath match up? Your only answer seems to be 4x force which isn't great. Are you just hoping to dodge it?

20 mana, not all of them permanent is really low. How do you play against different shop variants?

Grand Abolisher might not be a bad idea at least for the sideboard.

4 Champion of the Parish

Why bother with this thing?  You need to cast, like, 4 creatures in order for it to be worthwhile.  It's just a vanilla beater.   I'd consider other 1cc utility dudes in this slot . . . like, Stormscape Apprentice.

I'm the only other legal target, so I draw 6 cards, and he literally quits Magic.

Terrorists searching in vain for these powerful weapons have the saying "Bill Copes spitteth, and he taketh away."

I'm not really sure what you plan to accomplish with the 2x Ivy elementals as well.

I like it, lots of familiar cards and some new ones. If you want someone to test against I am your man. I can pilot blue and shop. After that my feedback will be more found too.

Ditto.  (Tritto?)

Your counterspell suite is personal preference I suppose, but I like Mental Misstep more than Daze (I've taken a liking to it recently) and Spell Pierce is still good. Don't forget Daze is trash with Snapcaster.

Also, why are you using white? You don't even have STP in the main. Cut white and add Green/Red. Meddling Mage? I suppose with Gush it's a better than it's been in awhile, but honestly, I think R or G does more for you.  The SB stuff seems weak imo.

-2 Steel Sabotage
-2 Lunarch
-4 Parish
-4 Daze

+1 Null Rod
+2 Spell Pierce
+2 Mental Misstep
+3 Nature's Claim
+4 Tarmogoyf

Which is more or less an updated BUG fish list (kinda boring, true), which I was always a fan of.  UWx was never really my thing.

I guess I'll say it.  Why are you playing Snapcaster Mage in a deck with two cards worth flashing back?

How many games on MWS or Cockatrice did you play with this thing before posting it?

0. And I can tell that it is not the right home for Snapcaster Mage already. Apologies and please close this thread.
