Question: How would the proxy system I describe below influence your desire/ability to play in a Vintage event that used it?
I would never want to play using this system
I would be less likely to play using this system
This system doesn't impact my ability to play Vintage.
I would be more likely to play Vintage using this system
This system would get me playing Vintage!

I've been in Vintage for 10 years.  I own no power.  I own two Drains: one for my EDH deck, one for my wife's.  Would I let someone else proxy Drains?  Absolutely.  Do I proxy my Ravages of War by sharpie-ing a different name onto an inner sleeve over Armageddon? Absolutely.  The minty Ravages stays triple-sleeved in its hard plastic, there only to assure proxy-hating Standard types that's it okay for me to play with it.  In an infi proxy Vintage tourney, I would proxy everything over $20...just to avoid shuffling it.

I own every staple under $50.  As a consequence of historical pricing, I also own a full set of dual lands, 8 Fow (bought from Starcity for $4 each), 8 Wasteland, 8 Dark Confidant, and several Mana Crypts.  I kept thinking Goyfs would go down in price due to critter size creep...and now I'll never bother buying any.  I think these should be viable proxies and see no reason why players who didn't buy 8 FoW to build Trix and Ped Bun Oath back in the day should be penalized or unable to use these cards at tourneys.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you buy power and shuffle it, it's because you have too much money.  If you go to a Vintage tourney, you're a loser the minute you walked in the door unless the TO took a steep loss.  The only reason to buy power is to buy acceptance with the community: all of about 100 people scattered around the world who still give a shit about a Vintage.

Any interest in putting together/maintaining a Github Git project that hosts proven decks of all major archetypes and documents their changes over time?
