The details have been set!

Here’s everything:

When:

Saturday, March 24th, 2012
Registration will begin at 12:00 PM
First round will begin promptly at 1:00 PM

What:

$30, 10 proxy non-sanctioned Vintage tournament.  Up to five additional proxies can be bought for $1 each.  Deck registration sheets will be in use. First place prize is guaranteed.

The prize structure will be as follows:

1st: Unlimited Mox (probably a Ruby)
2nd: 2x Italian Mana Drain
3rd/4th: $75 dealer credit
5th/8th: $50 dealer credit
9th: Mystery Prize, to be autographed by the top 8

1st place prize is guaranteed, regardless of attendance.  The 2nd-8th place prizes are guaranteed at 41 entrants.

As always, prizes will be scaled up with attendance.

Side Events:

Eight man, single elimination, side events will be available throughout the day. Signups for the first event will begin after round four of the main event. Entry fee is $12, with a blue dual land (probably a Tundra) being given to first!

Where:

Brothers Grim Games & Collectibles
1244 Middle Country Road
Selden, N.Y.
11784
(631) 698-2805
brothersgrimgames@gmail.com

Store website:

http://brgrim.com/index.htm

This event will also feature dealer extraordinaire Nick Coss.  Nick has an awesome collection of staples across all formats; the credit that will be given out for 2nd-8th will be with him, not the store.

This event is also going to be part of the Magic weekend at Brothers Grim.  Saturday's first tournament of the day is going to be a Standard tournament.  Entry fee is $15, with registration beginning at 10am and round one beginning at 11am.  Two boxes (Innistrad or Dark Ascension) are guaranteed, with a significant upgrade to prize support (in the form of additional packs/boxes) going out after we reach a player threshold in the mid 20's (this will be set after this weekend's events.)

Additionally there will also be an event on Sunday, 3/25, though the format for the event isn't set yet.  If the Modern event this weekend is successful then we're going to be looking at something similar to the Standard tournament.

It's going to be a great weekend at Brothers Grim and I hope to see you all there!

I have gotten word from my judge, Brian Paskoff, that he will be unavailable to work this event.  If you're a local area judge and you're looking to work an event, please shoot me a PM.

I had been hoping to run Standard and Vintage on Saturday, but this will be determined, in part, by the judge who replaces Paskoff for this event.  There is additional compensation for judging the second event, and the two event shouldn't be more than 80 players, total.

Pssst...Legacy on Sunday!

I'm minus one Brian Paskoff that weekend, so I may just run this as Vintage on Saturday with nothing else.  I'm open to running Legacy again, as it had better turnout than Modern.  I probably won't guarantee the prize support though.

I'm going to be judging this event.  I have judged pre-releases for the last seven years and I know my Vintage interactions through and through, so we're cool.

Who's going, who's winning?

Lin isn't Linning anymore, so not so sure about that.

Sorry for the delay in confirming the Mox for first.  I have a Pearl on hand, but would like to run it for that Ruby.  I'll have the support confirmed on Sunday.

I will be there along with one Mr Griffiths, Mr Richards, and one Angry Dave(hopefully).

If you haven't been to one of these, I strongly suggest making the trip. Grab some friends and get to this thing. No excuses. I promise it'll be the most fun you've ever had at a tourney. I'm sure someone can back me up here.

A little more than 24 hours away from this event.  I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at Grim!  It's going to be a hell of a day.

Yes. Red Shops takes it down, with two Espresso and a Metalworker MUD in the top eight. Rest of the field was Empty/Gush combo, GRO (I think), Dixon's blue list and something else blue.

There were ALOT of workshop decks in the field.  Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 were all against fellow shop players and after ID'ing (rounds 5,6) into the top 8, I faced shops again.

That's a good day when you're mono-red workshop aggro.
