Hi all!

Every week, I'm going to start a 8-player single elimination bracket.  Rules are very similar to the TMD online invitational:
1. Games are played publicly on Cockatrice
2. Players have at most a week to complete each match.
3. Lists must be posted after all round 1 matches are complete.
3a. You cannot change lists between rounds.
3b. You must show your list at the beginning of each match after the first so your opponent can verify against your posted list.
4. Prize is the opportunity to play a featured match against a well-recognized member of the Vintage community.  (Volunteers?)
5. Drops after the bracket is drawn are final.  Nobody can fill that slot.
6. Brackets will be fully randomized.  There will be no preference or "seeds" of any kind.

Registration will be closed once we have 8 people or about a week passes and I remember to draw up a bracket.

Players signed up as of last update:
1. AmbivalentDuck
2. Stormanimagus
3. Guli
4. A.-1.
5. Grand Inquisitor
6. Ruboonia

First matches must be complete by March 27th.  If all matches complete before then, the next set will be due within a week, and so on.

Signup for this closes when the signup for the next one goes up.

For six players, my preference is some sort of Swiss over round robin or single elimination.  Any objections?

There's a bracket up just to demonstrate how this would be carried out.  First round pairings would be random and not necessarily as presently posted.

I took the match 2-0 versus Storm.

G1: I am on the play and have black lotus in my GW beats deck. I run a high amount of threats in my recent versions so when I draw black lotus it usually means broken things. I had a fetch, black lotus, sapphire, thalia, selkie, noble, and something else. I crack and play my moxes. I open with Thalia to lure out Force. He has none. I lay down the Selkie and soon he scoops after I get down noble and draw into wasteland. Nearly unbeatable hand.

G2: This time he has the nuts. He opens with turn 1 recall and gets down black lotus that turn with mana crypt. Plenty of mana and plenty of cards. I start with turn 1 Cage to see how he will respond. He responds with Gifts, regrowth, demonic, jace and mental. I give him regrowth and mental, which he counters my cage with. I don't mind though. He proceeds with regrowth on black lotus and does a ETW for 6 gobs. I try to get down Thalia down but it gets counters, then i cast noble with Emerald and pass. He swings for 6 and does scroll for Gush. On my turn, I put Gaddock on stack. He responds with Gush and Force on Gaddock. On his turn he swings again. Then on my turn I get in Ooze. And he realizes that that could be problematic but there is not much he can do about it. And Ooze wins the race thanks to a his mana crypt giving him pain.

When do you want to play Duck?
Sorry, my wife has in the hospital.  Turned out to be serious, but nothing permanent.

I'm available pretty much every day this coming week other than Monday.

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad everything's ok now. I know how you feel. I was actually in the hospital last week for what I thought was going to be surgery.

Anyway, is Tuesday night around 7 est  good for you?

Sorry about that. I didn't realize you weren't EST. I should have just checked your profile, which would have taken all of 0.5 seconds.

EDIT: When would you like to play?

Since the pairings weren't up until March 13th, it makes no sense to make a match due on the 12th.  Updated to the 27th.

GI has contacted me more than once about Ruboonia, so I'll award the match to him.

I've contacted A.-1. trying to arrange to play again, but since I missed our first attempt I'll award the win to him to keep this moving forward if necessary.

Why no Ancestral Recall?  You could trivially add a blue land and splash Recall and Time Walk.

I beat Storm 2-0 in two very un-interactive games. Game one I had Jace turn one with FoW backup. Game two he drew no relevant counters and a lot of blanks.
