So much for no more back to back weekends that kill Long Island's attendance...

I will try to get there.

Mike, I don't appreciate your constant negativity.  I can't remember the last time you posted something positive about the NEV Series, and that frustrates the hell out of me given the amount of time, energy, and money I've put into it.  Understand that it's very difficult to schedule a two event per month series that isn't going to sometimes have events on back to back weeks.  I looked at the previous back to back events, and there were a ton of players who didn't go to either, and a lot who went to both.  Knowing that, the whole "back to back events makes the 2nd event a poor turnout" didn't hold water.  Hopefully you can take time out of your weekend to make the trip down to TDG.

Being negative? Sorry for speaking the honest truth about problems that have been brought up before and people not named Michael Bauer have mentioned directly to me before. I'll simply state two facts this time and I know you can't tell from behind a computer screen, but this is not attempting to be negative.

FACT: You have an event on the 16th, LI on the 23rd, and FoW on the 30th. I love the fact that three Vintage events are happening, but something has the give. Let's face facts, most of the Pennsylvania people will not come to LI, because they don't want to travel 3 hours when two other events are closer on either end of the 3 week period. (Exception: Mastriano, who is a road warrior beyond anyone else. And yes, I know you are not living in this area.)

FACT: The last back to back weekend was after the Grudge Match you hosted. Unless I am mistaken, LI didn't get enough people to run a sixth round after 85 people showed up to South Jersey.

And please, if I am wrong about either one of those items, tell me and give me something to prove it.

Guys,

An unfortunate consequence of having a thriving Vintage scene is that sometimes tournaments will bump up against each other. I remember when New England had this problem, and looking back on it now, it was eminently preferable to the way things currently stand.

In any case, knowing what I do about Nick, I am sure he didn't intentionally schedule his tournament on a date that conflicts with Long Island. From what's been said in this thread, it sounds like previous scheduling conflicts happened, Nick has since tried to shoot for different dates, but that sometimes conflicts happen anyway. It's regrettable, but I don't know what yelling at each other in the Announcement Forum is going to do to improve the situation.

Mike, if you feel like there's more to say to Nick, I'm confident he will listen and try to hash things out over PM or or through some other medium. But I'm going to have to ask that, at this point, the discussion move off the forums.

Do you guys know how jealous most other parts of the world are of the Northeast Vintage scene?

Regular tournaments and world class competition. If you can't make it one week, make it to the tournament you can. Vintage needs all the support it can get, and I am thankful we have great TOs who put a lot of time and money into giving us this scene. It really can seem like a thankless job, but it is appreciated.

The reason we have this, is people working together instead of bickering back and forth.

Please, let's not engage in any backseat modding.  This thread should be about the discussion of the upcoming Vintage event at Topdeck Games, not the Northeast Vintage community, the jealousy of other parts of the U.S., or world, or how anyone may or may not be taking this for granted.

It's time to move on, folks.  Let's get back on point.

This guy is awesome/I wish I could do 5 events per month.
I cannot make this because of silly job orientation crap, but I wish I could. Good luck to all!

This is just around the corner, everyone good to go?  If you need rides/want to go etc post here and hopefully people with room in cars will figure out a way to get everyone to the store to play some vintage!

Though I am qualified to play in the WMCQ in Maryland (much to my surprise), after an almost 2400-mile round-trip drive to Florida and back, I'm a little tired of road-tripping for a while. Thus, I shall be showing up to this fine local Vintage tournament.

(Don't worry Nick Detwiler, I'll be OK for NYSE the week after.)

So my car, at the moment, is Bauer, Mickey and I.  I have room for one more.  Tom, are you coming with me?  If not, is anyone else interested in making the trip?

I thought Mickey was going with me, but no matter. If Rich isn't coming then I'll go with you. Let me hear back from him first.
