I have seen Tabernacle in sideboards for shops and was curious on its effectiveness. Any feedback is appreciated.

Tabernacle's very effective in combating creature assaults in prison style workshop decks. It's virtually unbeatable when combined with Tangle Wire and Smokestack or Tangle Wire with Wasteland recursion. The current problem with Tabernacle is that it doesn't syrnergize well in Workshop Aggro along Lodestone Golem and friends.

What are some specific things you're looking for in regard to running Tabernacle in your board?

It's also strong against Dredge.

When thinking about running Tabernacle in your board for Fish and Dredge, what do you want to accomplish?

I only ask because Tabernacle is only a minor speed bump for Dredge and it seems like it might not be what you're looking for in the Non-prison Workshop vs Fish match up.

Although, in prison style decks, Tabernacle is the nut high against the creature rush.

I want to take out the hellkites since 6 six drops is too many. Thoughts on what should be in there?

Can you please provide a full copy of your 75 in this thread?  It's tough to offer advice without seeing the maindeck at the same time as the board.

Your list:

1 Black Lotus
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring
4 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Sphere of Resistance
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Tangle Wire
1 Trinisphere
4 Lodestone Golem
4 Phyrexian Metamorph
4 Wurmcoil Engine

1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Wasteland

SB:

4 Dismember
4 Grafdigger's Cage
4 Relic of Progenitus
1 Crucible of Worlds
2 Steel Hellkite

---

So, basically what you've done is you've taken the Shop shell of Espresso, you've kept the mana base, added a Mana Vault, four Wurmcoil Engines and more Sphere effects, sacrificing Smokestacks, Karn, Silver Golems and maindeck Crucibles.

Your game plan, it seems, is to ride a Wurmcoil to a victory instead of riding more permanent destruction.

The Espresso shell was built for the cards that win the game for it.  All decks, to some degree, are tempo decks, but Aggro is a true tempo deck that features disruption meant for temporary advantages that allow it to hit for lethal damage.  This deck doesn't really do that, as it's looking to build out on an opponent, but doesn't cut off the opponent's resources (resources that will allow the opponent to get back into the game).

You should consider running Null Rod first, then worry about your six drops.

If you're going to be running that many six drops, you're going to need to fix your mana base, which can't really support them.  You need at least one, and probably two, City of Traitors.

If you're going to switch over to Null Rods, the Hellkites need to get cut, immediately.  Hellkite and Null Rod, obviously, don't work together.

Still, this isn't really a good Null Rod metagame, because this isn't a good metagame for true power blue decks.  We're in a weird creature/Landstill/Ritual Oath metagame with a little Shop and Dredge thrown in.  I'd cut down on Sphere effects, run more men, and look to be more aggressive.

My original idea was cut SoR and play legionnares. In that case hellkites could stay possibly. But a one crucible might not be enough.

Crucible and Legionnaire are different cards with different purposes.  Are you trying to hit for 20, or lock him?

Obviously hit for 20, but crucible isnt just to lock them out, it saves you from getting locked out of mana yourself.

Which is great in the mirror, but in game one, you're focusing on beating in for a win.  Crucibles become a sideboard card in a protracted war, not a strategy to victory in game one.

Yeah. I was referring to cutting sor from the main and playing legionnare. Then for the sb increasing the crucibles possibly to 3. If not 3 then maybe 2 and then a tabernacle?

Are you sure that you want to be running Tabernacle in the sideboard of your Shop Aggro deck?

You should not run Tabernacle in your Workshop Aggro deck.

Sideboards are a product of metagames.  If you're in a really, really heavy Shop metagame then the answer to your question is 'no'.  If you're not, then the answer is 'yes'.
