This card seems awesome in a Suicide Oath build (a build of Oath without Gaea's Blessing or a similar card). That deck is extremely powerful. Both of its two abilities are extremely powerful; when combined, they provide a really strong impact for just two mana. I like this card a lot, and will not be surprised if it sees play. The fact that it is white instead of any other color is a drawback; but at two mana, I will expect it to be seeing Vintage play.

Pretty sure this card is not bad in bomberman. While it may be a "nonbo" with Salvagers, less than 30% of my game wins actually involve using the graveyard. Look for several of this card in my list once this set becomes legal.
Completely agree. I will almost certainly be playing this as my dredge hate in my uwb bomberman deck that has both snapcaster and of courser salvagers. The only downside that concerns me is that it is an enchantment and dredge has more then their fair share of enchantment hate.

It's only good if you play it before Dredge manages to dread return something. Plus, don't the decks that would be able to play this all play goyf?

Since a bunch of Dredge is going Dread Return-les, wouldn't that just make this card better?

So, I do not see why this isn't main deck material for any deck that can play it. We all know what it does to dredge but against big blue it stops yawg will and snapcaster as well as regrowth effects. Against shops and landstill it stops crucible and against fish it makes goyf an 0/1 Permanently. This card seems good against just about anything...

This is true of all dredge hate I don't see what point your trying to make It is true for all Dredge hate, this is why a lot of the Dredge hate costs less than 2 mana or can situationally be free. That's not true of this card, which makes losing the game before you can drop this on the board a real concern that may not apply to other graveyard hosers.

This is a powerfull and short summary of what I tried to explain. I am working on a deck with maindeck Stony Silence and maindeck Rest in Peace. Combined with some tappers and anti control cards (caverns, grand abolisher) this seems like a solid build. The plan versus Shop would be to use Spirit Guides, Noble, Mayor and land destruction in addition to Stony and RiP. Dredge match up becomes easier and easier for beat decks because there is already anti bazaar and graveyard hate present and with RiP maindeck, I don't see how beats can lose a game. Mental Misstep might be interesting to cover against Claims.

Rest in Peace is not a maindeck card for the NEV metagame. Although it has disruptive relevancy against Bomberman (the combo), RUG Delver and Noble Fish (Tarmogoyf), and Espresso (Crucible), the fact that it is generally irrelevant against Martello Shops and Merfolk, combined with the above examples not being a killing shot against those decks, makes diluting one's deck, especially a tempo deck, too high risk. The fact that Bomberman and Noble Fish are willing to run it themselves is relevant to this argument.

The following is a message Guli sent me. It contains analysis of the role of Rest in Peace against Workshop builds, and therefore belongs in this thread, instead of my inbox.
Thanks for the quick response. (I linked to examples of Martello Shops on TMD and Morphling.de)
Those decks are indeed less vulnerable to something like Rest in Peace. But Stony Silence is a card they scoop too. I tend to design my human decks a bit aggressive towards Workshop. This is in contrast with what I did in the past with Aether Vial. I played a very defensive game trying to get in a vial take the early damage and then start controlling the board with cats and bobs. Now I play heavy strip, stony, moxes, spirit guides, mayor, nobles, bobs. A card like Rest in Peace is there to prevent them from recovering after Stony + land destruction. Mayor is the bomb finisher.
I also see some crucibles in the SB which they will bring in game 2 and game 3. The grave gate might be very crucial then.
Also don't forget about the list that recently top 8 with Rachet Bomb, Burried Ruins and Crucibles. Just because 1 version of Shops doesn't play Crucible main deck does not mean you should skip a couple copies of RiP main deck. It is about covering the grave hate side that you need with beets with great efficiency. If they don't use graveyard, then they will be hit by Stony even more, and Martello is a great example of this. That is why Stony+Rip is so powerful together in my humble opinion. They both hit important zones in the game that are being used right now. Also a card like Mayor shines when you are doing mana denial strategies.

This card seems awesome in a Suicide Oath build (a build of Oath without Gaea's Blessing or a similar card). That deck is extremely powerful. This. I feel like oath has better things to do than nuke yards, like making a GB and reoccurring time walk or making vault key happen or something. Sure, its baller out of the sb, but I'm pretty sure if your going to be running Rest in Peace, it should be part of your game plane with helm. It seems better than having an oath game plan, and then also running this even though it doesn't help you find, resolve, or leverage oath. If there's a piece of this I'm blatantly missed, please let me know.
