@Prospero: I definitely will Nick. As soon as I figure out a place to stay, I will be purchasing my plane ticket. @Pokey: Thanks Justin. I had lots of fun hanging out with you and everyone at GenCon. I'm really hoping that everything work out and I can come up there for this. Unfortunately Zach can not come due to school.

Due to the uncertainty with Gencon and Vintage/Legacy Champs I have changed my summer Magic plans. I am IN for this tournament.

In other news, there will be some additional security measures in place for this event.
For starters, the play area is going to be separated from the rest of the room. This will, hopefully, prevent some of the grab and run instances of theft that have occurred at other large events.
All those who are playing in the Vintage event will be given two wristbands with matching numbers. One wristband will be worn on your wrist and will grant you access to and from the playing area. Security will let you in and out of that area. The second wristband will be attached to your bag. You will not be allowed to leave with anyone else's bag. This will, hopefully, prevent some of the more subtle attempts at theft.
In order to enter the play area, you will have to show your wristband to security, who will let you in and out. An additional security guard will be by the door.
I'm doing all that I can to make this event the best event possible, and the security of everyone's possessions is high on my list. Theft will be taken very seriously. If you are caught stealing at this event, you will be arrested. Charges will be pressed. It will be a miserable experience for you. I am serious. I hope that this is not an issue that comes up that day, and mars an otherwise strong event.

On a lighter note, I will be bringing many of my available Magic originals to display and sell at the event. You can check them out on OMA here. Nick has been kind enough to get me a table and I will be bringing along some other displays to show off this amazing art. If there are any pieces you want to ensure that I bring, please let me know. I hope to bring as many as I can properly and safely display. I can't wait to meet everyone there, Vintage players and art fans alike.

Prospero showed an example of one of my hand illustrated playmats that will be for sale at the N.Y.S.E. Open tournament in the original post of this thread. I'm going to slowly show some of the others that will be available at this event. Here's an assimilation of the many lands that a Workshop player pilots. Strip Mine, Wasteland, Ancient Tomb, and Mishra's Workshop, all alongside a lonely (but dangerous) Smokestack... a much different environment than the one in the classic "blue" playmat. (The cloth mats are very hard to photograph properly in terms of their coloration and contrast, but this gives a good enough idea.)

We had a player drop out, so we're back to needing one more to hit 70. I'm hoping that with the Boston N.Y.S.E. Qualifier, we'll hit that number.
I've picked up a few more unique, cool, things for the random prize support. They're not super expensive, but they are pretty unique, and I think they're nice...

Greg, those mats are both incredible. You do great work.
We've been hanging around the high 60's for players for a little while now. It's not bad, but it's not where I'd like to be. So, how do you push people to sign up and play in this event? Well, you add more to the prize support. You could add a little, or you could decide to blow the doors off the event...
I'm adding over $500 worth of prize support to the event. The headliner giveaway from this group is a foil (Future Sight) Tarmogoyf. I'm working on some new ideas for giveaways, but that info will be posted soon.
This will be the best Vintage tournament that you'll play in all summer. It's worth the trip. Make it.

You've created an event with an incredibly deep payout of Vintage staples and a special altered card to act as somewhat of a trophy. You've taken extreme security into consideration. You're allowing people the opportunity to inexpensively win a qualifier into the event. There are loads of fun extras throughout the day such as the Jeff Menges appearance. You're running raffles with some serious prizes. You have both Vintage and non-Vintage side events in mind. There will be original Magic artwork on display and also for sale. I can't even wrap my head around how awesome this all sounds. At this point, I'd be more curious to know why any Vintage enthusiast wouldn't want to be participating in this event. Outside of either previous engagements that can't be changed, or inability to travel from thousands of miles away, it's hard for me to imagine this event not *already* being enticing enough to play in, regardless of if you've added more prizes or not. On a different note, here is a fun little set of "Power" proxies I've made that will be available at the event.

Please pre-register Bogdan Vygovsky for this tournament. Thanks! I think this might be a good opportunity to make a list of the remaining qualifiers that will be happening over the course of the next few weeks for those that are still trying to win an entry. Bogdan was wondering if there were any more events on Long Island.

He should try and attend that event. That will be the last Qualifier event before the tournament.
