Please pre-register Bogdan Vygovsky for this tournament. Thanks! Smile

I think this might be a good opportunity to make a list of the remaining qualifiers that will be happening over the course of the next few weeks for those that are still trying to win an entry. Bogdan was wondering if there were any more events on Long Island.

Shit. Everyone don't even bother showing up now. Bogdan the Blade is coming, so chances are no one else will be wining any prizes.

I'm in. If I knew what deck I was going to play, I'd write the tournament report for me winning here already. Until I decide, assume I lose a round to Twaun and Soly ends up going on super tilt.

You're in, JR!  I hope to see Twaun and company there, but I've received no word on that yet...

I'm almost done building the displays to show off the art I am bringing.

There will likely be some newer additions on display there that are not yet listed on my OMA Marketplace gallery.

In other news, I need a place to crash for Saturday Night.  If there is a room available to split or just a couch to sleep on, consider your dinner paid for (or room cost split).

I'm looking forward to seeing you both there!  You're both in!

In other news, Comic Book Depot will be running a Friday Night Vintage tournament for anyone looking to get some last minute playtesting in.  I'm going to add the announcement into the main announcement on the first page, but it will be $10 entry with a commensurate amount of credit given out to those who play in the event.  The event will start at 7:30 pm on Friday.  If you need help getting there, let me know.

I've updated the original post.  I highly recommend checking it out for the full information on the weekend's events, but if you want a quick recap:

1.  There will be a no-proxy prize of an Urza's Legacy foil Goblin Welder given to the player who finishes highest without proxies.

2.  There will be a proxy prize of a foil Ravnica Dark Confidant given out to the player who has the nicest proxies at the event.

3.  There is now a Friday Night Vintage event at Comic Book Depot.

4.  I'm still working on adding more to the random prize support that will be given out.  A foil, signed, FTV Memory Jar has been added to the prize pool.

I'm going to be walking through the area, as the games go on, looking for candidates.  On top of that, so will my judges for the event.

If the whole time you played at the event Korn played on stage just feet away and there was a chocolate fountain with a fruit bar.... That would make it sweeter

Korn?  Is this tournament taking place in 1999?

Seriously though, the only thing that could make this tournament better is an open bar, or even a cash bar.  I'm not holding out too much hope, though, with it being in a church and all.

So I am going to try to make this event. I do not drive so I have to take the LIE which is not something I do that often. Does anyone know:

How long of a trip from the Jamacia stop is it on the LIE
Would I take the train to Hicksville or Bethpage
How long of a walk is it from those stations

Do you mean the LIRR?  The LIE is for cars.

Jamaica is about 30 minutes away by the LIRR.

Both those stops are five minutes or so from the venue.  There are cab stands at both stations.

There are a lot of people who are looking for rides from train stations for this event.  My fellow New Yorkers, I need your help.  If you have room in your car and you don't mind helping out a potential player with a ride to and from the station I would be most appreciative.

Whats the walking distance? Is it a mile or 2 or is it like other parts of LI where it's 2 miles but you need a sherpa to get there cause there are no sidewalks.

I only ask because I live in queens and based on the train schedules I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks just taking the hike.

Cabs from the Airport are expensive, as they are contracted prices with the TLC. I want so say something on the order of 40+, but I haven't taken one in awhile so it might be more. I'm not too far from La Guardia and can get you on my way to the event. PM me if you want.

Edit: Just looked it up,

http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=NY&from=LaGuardia+Airport%2C+Queens%2C+NY&to=3434+Hempstead+Turnpike%2C+Levittown%2C+NY is the rate quoted.  Total with 20% tip is 89.06.

Site Security:

Theft has never been an issue at my events.  This, however, doesn't mean that I'm oblivious to what has gone on recently.  Security for this event is going to be tight.  I have hired licensed security guards for this event.  The play area will be separated from the rest of the room.  Not everyone will be afforded access, as only those players who are playing in the event will be able to get into the play area.  There will be numbered wristbands that match players with their bags and if they don't match, you're not leaving.

The value of the cards now demands measures like this.  I know that this is the least fun aspect of a big event.  That being said, I know that we all realize how important measures like this are.  I hope that everyone remains patient, as these measures are in place to ensure that the downfalls of other events are not realized at the N.Y.S.E. Open.

Thanks for doing this. As someone who has had a fully powered deck stolen about 8 years back I'm always worried about getting my cards stolen.  I'm unfortunately not going to make it out for this one but I wanted to voice my support.

James Hangley, Paul Mastriano and Jake Gans have registered for the event, moving us to 76 players!

I'm sorry to read that you had a deck stolen.  It's unfortunate that this is such a concern nowadays, but I don't think it's one that we can ignore anymore.  I'm going to do my part to ensure that everyone leaves with what's theirs.

With Chris Song, Fred Ehrhart and Charles Rolko registering for this event, we are now at 80 players.

80 players is a ridiculous Vintage tournament in the U.S.  I can't wait to see everybody there.

80 players is also another plateau; I am going to announce, in the next couple of days, additional prize support.  We have another $800-$1,000 in prize support that I'm adding to the pool.
