Before we just semi-randomly pick one based on internet reviews and proximity to the event location, does anyone have suggestions for a local hotel?  We're looking for a place to crash on Friday night after the absurd post-FNM drive from MA.

There's a Marriott hotel in Uniondale, which is 10-15 minutes away from the event.  It's right by Nassau Coliseum:

http://www.roomstays.com/hotel/243161

The hotel is right by Hempstead Turnpike, which makes it an easy drive.

There are other options.  Stay away from any Capri Motel; they're cheap, but there are trade-offs.

I'd like to get a rough idea of who plans on attending the special "Friday Night Vintage" event at Comic Book Depot on June 14th. It's starts at 7:30.

This is a good chance to get warmed up for the main event. I'm hoping more than a handful of people plan on joining in on the fun. I'm imagining mostly locals, but it would be great if some people from out of state planned on starting their weekend a little earlier. Smile

Myself and two others might attend if they get here from PA in time.

Great, the Marriott was basically what we were leaning towards anyway.

Thanks!

I hope to make it there in time for the 730 event but it all depends on if I can get out of work early.

Would be good to play some before Saturday as I'm beyond rusty on Vintage.

What time do doors 'officially open' at the venue?  I wanted to make sure that I get up early enough to get onto the Island with time to spare (seeing as the weather seems to be nice and I'm sure plenty of beach-goers will have the same idea).  I don't mind waiting inside, but sitting in my car is something I'd prefer to avoid.

Doors will open at 11.  I'll be busy with the setup at that point.

I love the Last Word quote on the trophy, and I like the Atlas, as well. Goes with the quote in your signature.  But let's be serious, here... that version of Atlas is totally holding a 3-ball on his shoulders.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to adjust my work schedule so I could attend this event.

Best wishes to all those in attendance and good luck. I'll be peeping the web for tourney updates.

That trophy is out of this world. Hopefully I'll end up adding it to my Vintage trophy collection. Wink

I'm excited to hopefully meet some new people tonight at the Comic Book Depot event. Let's have some fun and get ready for the big show.

I wish I could, but don't think I'll be able to make it there on time from my place considering the epic traffic. I don't think you are aware of what Friday Evening traffic from the Airports Westbound is like here in NY. If you try to do anything your opponent draws 3 cards, that's about as accurate a description I can give to you.

I'm sorry, but I'm unavailable tonight, as I'm running around Queens and Nassau, and have dinner plans that require being in NYC.

Anyone who's able to help them out will earn my gratitude, for whatever it's worth.

So since I don't know which train time I'm going to catch out there, I think I'm going to hoof it from the LIRR to the church, which seems to be a 2.5 mile walk, which is good for me cause I do not walk enough. If I get in at 10 at the latest, I should be able to walk there by 11. If anyone feels like taking that journey with me they are welcome, and there is a 711 on the way for coffee and such.

That being said, does anyone have the number of a local car service (one they know and hopefully like) that will get me back to Queens after the event. If the event runs late (which it will most likely) the LIRR seems to get sporadic.

I'm pretty sure there are a few seats in cars headed Westbound, you should be alright.

I'll PM you my # so you can call me when you get in on the LIRR, I might be able to pick you up from there to save you the walk unless you're committed.
