I think one underlying intent was to hit at the best cards with potential that are off the radar. New vintage players can look up any T8 report and see the bulk of played powerful cards...but cards like maelstrom pulse, portent, devout witness...are extremely good and yet are often completely off the radar. Since this menendian list seems to be the go-to for vintage playables and there are several best of threads, perhaps this is best revamped as "underplayed best ofs?" That would get at the innovation I was truly hoping to encourage.
Cards like portent, devout witness, and pulse are really not "extremely good" in vintage. They either don't do something high impact enough, are cost prohibitive, or are corner case playable in specific decks/metas. A lot of the cards on the list are cards that just aren't good enough right now, or saw play this one time in some random deck that wasn't quite good enough. Others are just complete no-brainer staples. I really wouldn't put wheel of sun and moon in the same universe as JTMS, so its very odd to me to put them on a list of cards entitled "the best of the best." A lot of the card there are debatable playable at all, and some I would even call bad.
In all seriousness, maybe you should delete the obvious staples from the last and rename it: the 'this might be the borderline playable card that you're looking for' list. Or the a list of hidden gems or something.
