I'll be there. Will be up nice and early to carpool over with Shawn Griffiths and Lance Ballester. TDG events are always a (long trip, but) fun day.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be making an appearance at this one. SCG Philly is this weekend, and as I am currently four points away from earning a spot in a SCG Invitational, I must take this opportunity to grind.

Meh, I changed my mind. I think I'll be showing up for this after all.

How was the turnout at this event?
Who ended up taking the $700 in credit?
I really wish I could go to more events I just have so much to do.

This...field...was...CRAZY!!! People tuning in will prob be blown away by the decklists at this Top 8. 38 people total, good turnout! T4 split between:

Calvin - Grixis Control
Josh - Calvin Homebrew (Landstill'ish)
Samantha - Man Bear Fish
and your official winner:

Lance Ballester - Dr. Edge's Laboratory

(decklists identified may not be 100% accurate)   Very Happy

Congrats everyone! Especially Calvin on his unretirement tourney and Sam for their glorious returns to Vintage. But not Lance, he's been winning too much...

Seconded! The field was just nuts. I know that an Affinity Shops deck made the Top 8, and my teammate, Josh Richards finished 3rd in the Swiss standings with BUG Fish, only to lose to the aforementioned Josh and his very strange Landstill/Mayor Fish/Delver deck in the Quarterfinals. I finished 9th with Talrand/Empty Gush after a brutal 0-2 start to my day, and my other attending teammate, Jon Geras finished 16th on Noble Fish (I've never seem so many Fish and Fish-like decks as I did today!), so Team Ramrod all finished in the money. One helluva day of card-slinging. If you weren't here, you missed out on a great event.

Last round blew the math section of my brain to pieces, but it was a good day filled with good people. Congratz to the top 8, and I'm sorry I couldn't take our fishy friends to the finals, Joel.

The most important part of today is that the plan is working, guys! All the fish decks pushed most of that azorius stuff out of the metagame. So while I can't bring back Ghost in the Shell quite yet, I'm pretty sure we can all run Tinker again.

We should probably all get on that.

....So I can run the GoST again.

.....I never said it wasn't a convoluted plan.

Congrats to the Top 8!

Lance, you just keep doing well with that "Janky Dredge Deck"... Good Job!

Thank you Joel. The mayor/delver/standstill is officially called "BOD Still-jank". That list is a home brew that Josh had only seen goldfished and this was his 1st tourney in vintage. Actually his first games ever! I'm proud of him. 3/4 in our car top 8'd(Josh S., Shawn Tappen, myself). Good day for the BOD crew. Good to see sooo many turn up. New faces and guys I'm only recently meeting and guys I've known forever. Looking forward to jamming more events.
Cheers,
Cal

Hah, np! It was not a great showing for the "best deck in Vintage". Crazy enough that there were 4 Merfolk pilots in one tournament, even crazier that Round 2 featured all TWO possible merfolk mirror matches. But since the deck didn't crack top 8, I assume no one will be playing it anymore and everyone can go back to running the non fish hate cards in their sbs.

Also, can't wait to see the decklist, Cal! That and the rest of Top 8. I can already hear the uproar! Zeez crazy Americans!!!

Er Joel, this was the fishiest event ever. I highly doubt a regression in fish hate.

I forgot to type that in sarcastic font. I can hope...but yeah, not likely in this new "oops all creatures" field.

I approve of this creature field! Less Time Vault, more Mayor of Avabruck!

This was my first time playing vintage and it was quite fun. The crowd was pretty chill, I'll definitely try to make it to more vents.

Grats to my friend Jason that I came with who top 8'd with cobra gush! (It was his first vintage event as well Very Happy)

p.s. Mayors are ok, but assembly workers are the best creatures of all time!
