Comic Book Depot is holding a Vintage tournament this month!
Here are the details:
What:
$30, 15 proxy, non-sanctioned Vintage tournament.
Prize Structure:
1st: Unlimited Mox Jet (at 17 entrants) 2nd: $60 credit (at 19 entrants)
Where:
The Comicbook Depot 2847 Jerusalem Avenue Wantagh, NY 11793-2016 (516) 221-9337
When:
Sunday, June 30th 11:30 a.m. registration, 12:30 pm start

The Mox Jet that I've held for prize support is in beautiful shape; it's something that you'd be very, very happy to win.
I know that it's short notice, but this is going to be a great event and I hope to see you there!

Also, as I'm not the T/O for the event, there is a strong chance that I play in this, as I missed playing in the Top Deck Games event last wekend.

I'm really hoping that we'll have a good turnout at this event. It's been a strong month for Vintage in the Northeast. Let's keep it going! Power is often guaranteed at tournaments, but the condition of the cards is rarely stated. It's worth noting that this is an incredibly clean piece of Unlimited power. Here's a scan of the Mox Jet that will be available if we hit the necessary quota of entrants.

Nick might be playing?!? Anyone from PA making the trip up to this event? I'd love to be able to say I played Vintage six weekends in a row.

If you come, can you bring the cards I asked for via PM?

Question; Is "Battle of wits" legal?
For those of you who are uninformed, "Battle of wits" is an enchantment that costs 3uu(snap*) to cast that states: "At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have 200 or more cards in your library, you win the game."
Personally I think "Battle of wits" is the future of the vintage meta and it's level of value far exceeds that of the power nine...nay you say...well do any of the nine pieces of power single-handedly win the game for you...didn't think so. "battle of wits": 1 , "power 9": 0

If we hit enough players to warrant a July tournament, there is an Unlimited Ancestral Recall that can be used as the prize support for the next tournament.

I need some Vintage in my life. I'm in. I'll be arriving with Misters Kohler, Edwards, and Happymeal.
And I shall be playing a deck that very few, if any, would ever put me on...

Registration is starting soon and it looks like we're at 20+ players for the first time in a while. Good to see.

not sure what the rest of the top 8 was, but I made it on Burning Long and lost to TPS in top 8. I know there was at least 1 workshop and 1 dredge in there as well.

Thanks for the updates! What was the turnout and estimate of pillars represented? One of these days I'll make it out of the sticks of Northeast PA to play in NY.

There was 20 players I believe. Field seemed pretty diverse, although a bit more combo then I would have thought.

The top eight was Dredge, Neo Academy, UBw Suicide Jace Vault, UBR Strix Control, Shops, UR Tinkerstill, TPS, and Burning Long.
Dredge, UBw, Shops, and TPS advanaced.
Jake with UBw beat Mike on Dredge in the finals according to Egan.
Fun times were had by all. It was amazing how many were in attendance given one of the shortest tournament announcement notices I have seen.

I was really, really happy with the turnout. We had a bunch of the newer players from New York show up to play in the event. It was nice to see everyone, and I hope that we get a few more of the new pilots to show up to the next one. I'm currently working on the date with Alan for the next event, but it looks like it's going to be one of the last Sundays of the month. The prize for the event will be an Unlimited Ancestral Recall. Entry fee will remain the same. There should, however, be a freezer with ice cream at the store in time for the next event.
