Once More Unto the Breach! Event number three for Boston area vintage, and I'm planning to do another tournament for another piece of power! Just in time to pick up one last piece before Vintage Champs in November. So don't pass up this opportunity. As usual it will be a bit before I have the exact prize determined but you can be sure it will be on par with our previous events! So here are the details! WHERE:Pandemonium Books and Games 4 Pleasant Street Cambridge, MA 02139 (617) 547-3721 WHEN:Saturday, August 24th The event begins at 12pm. Registration starts at 11:00 (Pre-Registration will be available details to follow). WHAT:Main Vintage Event! $30 entry fee10 Proxy free with Entry fee with the option to buy 5 additional proxies for $1 each Decklists required. **NOTE: That unfortunately due to size of the venue we will have to cap the event at 90 people, so any out of town folks will probably want to pre-register. If this event is a success I will certainly look into booking a larger venue for future tournaments.PRIZES!Guaranteed!1st Place : Unlimited Mox Ruby 2nd Place : Library of Alexandria 3rd Place : English Mana Drain 4th Place : English Mana Drain Pre-RegistrationAs requested by the store running the event they would like to do a pre-paid pre-registration. To do this please call the number listed above, give them your name and tell them which event you would like to register for, and they will be able to process it via credit card over the phone. They are also more than happy to refund the pre-registration with reasonable notice before the event. PROXY RULES:Acceptable Proxy Methods:1. Full Card Printed on Card Stock. (ie: you blanked a normal magic card and then ran it through a printer.) 2. Clearly Hand written fully blank card. (ie: You blanked a normal magic card and then neatly hand wrote all relevant information on it.) 3. Relevant Information neatly written on a basic land with Sharpie
**Note: Relevant Information is defined as follows:1. Card Name 2. Mana Cost 3. Card type 4. Full card text or a reasonable abbreviation 5. Power/Toughness/Loyalty where applicable
Failure to provide adequate proxies will result in a warning or game loss should a judge need to be called. I hate to be so harsh on this, but a lot of players put a lot of time and effort into making their decks and expect some effort from their opponents. If you have any questions regarding your proxies please approach myself or one of the other organizers or judges and have us check them before the tournament starts.

Regarding the proxy rules, would proxies created by taking a similar card (i.e. spellbook for black lotus), erasing the different portions of the card (in this case name, art, rules text) and replacing them with sharpie be acceptable? Or do you have to literally blank the entire card?

I generally yield to the Judges decision on what they consider appropriate. However, to me this sounds like a fine proxy, provided that it does not resemble the original card enough to be confused.

Hey guys, I'll be sure to make it to this event and I can't wait for it.
So here's a little aside note I'd like to add, I'll be bringing my Unporxied Vintage deck in addition to my proxied one in case any of you would like to get an 8 man sanctioned event going. After talking to the Pandemonium guys at the PTQ this weekend they seemed happy to launch a win a box event for almost anything and we even had 6 people sign up for a Proxied Vintage win a box at that PTQ. I'd love to see more people playing this awesome format more frequently.

With the popularity of ELD/Scholar's sanctioned vintage events I can see this working out. I'm also perfectly fine with side events running given that pandemonium/the judges can handle the increased work load. (Not that I expect an 8 man side event to require that much). I'll run it by the shop tomorrow night when I'm there.

Unfortunately I've been away on Business travel for the last two weeks and haven't had chance to check in with the store. So I'm not sure if they've got any pre-regs yet But based on word of mouth I'm confident in about 10 people so far that I know are going.

To anybody else that wants a piece of me I recommend using Imgur. Hit the "Make a Meme" button near the top right corner. Find the meme you want and change the captions up in the text boxes in the bottom right. Hit "Make this Meme!" button when you're done. Then just copy and paste the BBCode link provided to the right of the picture into the message box here. Not familiar with popular memes and their usage? Read up on some popular ones here.
