Gencon will still have large events and more for Vintage, it's just not hosting Champs anymore. Can't wait to see the results of that event as it should provide some cool data points.

It seems highly possible that all the results will be MIA, but I'm hoping some people there will report the info or try to collect it from the TO.

I've been tweeting pics of the tournament. In round 6 now, Nick Coss and Soly are still in it. Germany is represented with a sweet Shops deck locked in for Top 8.

UW Control (with rip-helm line main) and Affinity Robots split the finals of the vintage qualifier for the 20th anniversary limited event (80 packs from Beta-M14 will be drafted Sunday); it had 80-some odd players. I'll be heading to the draft, he got the uncut AQ sheet.
BTW any advice on strategy as to what sets/blocks to target would be appreciated.

I split the finals and took the sheet. It's gencon and I've got stuff to do -- I also hate limited. I played U/w control. -Sean O'Brien

man, I never would have agreed to a split where I didn't get the sheet. I'm so bummed I missed it.

Why are there 2 Millstones? Also, why are my 4 AQ Millstones not the hot tech in Standard right now?

There will be lists and full metagame breakdown for the Saturday tournament on EC in the next day or two probably. The tournament organizers lost the decklists for the Friday tournament though, even though I requested ahead of time all Eternal decklists (and they agreed). #PastimesFail

@Jaco As the attendance was rather relevant, maybe we can try to open a Vintage public mission and gather the top8 decklists here @ TMD

Top 8 was
1 - Forgema$ter $hops (Irmler - Germany) 2 - Torture Chamber Shops (Becker - USA) 3 - Gush Mancer w/ Bolts (Grudzina) 4 - BoM BUG (Cavanaugh - USA) 5 - ? (Lodovico) 6 - Gush Mancer (?) (Greenbaum) 7 - ? (Butker) 8 - U/w Rest in Peace (me)
I beat Thomas on the draw after he had a mull to 5 game 1. Game two SFM took it home.
I beat Cavanaugh on the draw after a brick city game one where both of us sat in top deck mode for what seemed like 10 turns. I had a AMC slamming in every turn and he hard cast Forced 3 (?) consecutive spells. Game two Meddling Mage was indeed an asshole. I backed that up with Batterskull and he had a mana tight draw after making an error and burning his lotus for GGG pass turn.
This match fatigue set in; I didn't think I was favored on the draw vs. Torture Chamber Shops in game one. In addition he seemed really psyched about the draft battle so we split. Good times, also want to point out a couple of things. Nick Coss is a gentleman and a scholar, he conceded game one after discovering his will in his maindeck. I got game 3 of a tight 3 game vs. him but probably (yeah yeah the will affected this ordering of his deck ... but) shouldn't have had that match.
In addition myself and the 9th place competitor walked off after the final round the 1 seed had just smashed me in two games. Then we thought there might be m14 packs for 9th-16th that we could tear up in front of the casuals -- came back and there I was as the 8th seed. #neversaydie.

Yeah, what a total blowout.... I know JACO quad lazer checked and made sure he got them for day two. On a different note, I didn't hear a single thing about anyone loosing or getting any cards stolen which I thought was great. I'd also like to give a shout out to everyone who attended. It was an absolute blast talking and meeting with people I only get to read about online. I'll be hyping the EC GenCon thread when it gets released.

There is absolutely no excuse for that. Sanctioned Vintage tournament rarely reach 80 players in the US. For past times to lose those decklists is inexcusable. Folks should complain.
