Comic Town in Columbus is hosting a guaranteed-prize Vintage tournament on Saturday, September 28. Trying the event on a Saturday again allow players from farther away to make arrangements for a longer weekend if necessary. Otherwise, Comic Town will be providing the great space, amenities, and prizes they always do. Plus, post tournament meals at great places like the Thurman Cafe!

The details:

WHAT: VINTAGE! Tournament

Swiss + Top 8.

Entry is $20

PRIZES:

GUARANTEED $400 CASH!

1st Place: $160
2nd Place: $80
3rd Place: $40
4th Place: $40
5th-8th: $20

WHERE: Comic Town! They've been great about hosting and promoting Vintage in Ohio. Events are always a ton of fun.

COMICTOWN
1249 Morse Road  Columbus, OH 43229
(614) 262-5006

http://www.comictown.net/locations/

If you need to car pool to Columbus, post your needs and we'll find someone whom you can travel with. I'll start a signup if necessary.

WHEN: Saturday, September 28, 2013 1:00 PM EST

The store opens at 11:30 AM. Registration starts at 12:30 PM. Registration will close and the tournament begins at 1:00 PM, sharp. To save time, consider typing or writing up your decklist ahead of time.

PROXIES: UNLIMITED PROXIES will be permitted.

There are THREE ways of making proxies:

1) The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it.
2) PREFERRED! The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics. See: http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560 for more details on how to do this.
3) the third is to print out all 75 cards, and slip the sheet of paper into each sleeve. If you do this, every card must be proxied.

Vintage Achievements!

We will be doing Vintage Achievements at this tournament! I will be bringing some extra prizes to hand out to people who earn points for meeting goals such as:

Givin’ him the business :: Win a game on your first turn
The Hard Way :: Cast a permanent that costs eight (8) or more
Old School :: Have all five original Moxen in play
Float like a Spirit Token, sting like a Welder! :: Attack for exactly one (1) damage
Is that all you’ve got?! :: Beat turn 1, resolved: Jace, Trinisphere, Oath or Tinker
Global Warming :: Control a Smokestack with three (3) or more soot counters
After you :: Deck your opponent with Ancestral Recall
Et tu, Bobby? :: Lose a game to a permanent you control
Cut Heard 'Round the World :: Cut your opponent's deck to a game-winning or game-losing topdeck

This is not too far away. I've been getting some tips from my training partner. You might know him.

This is coming up in a couple of weeks!

Also, the Sunday after is a charity event Theros draft if people are interested:

Come join us on September 29, 2013 at 12pm for the second annual Shuflin for Kid's Sake!

Shufflin' for Kid's Sake is a charity Magic Event hosted by Ecommerce. Our goal is to raise as much money as we can for the Franklin County Holiday Wish Program - a program that helps underpriveleged kids in Franklin County get the Christmas presents they want during the holiday season.

This event will be a 3x Theros booster draft, and prizes will be paid out in Theros boosters. The cost is $25, and all proceeds will be going to charity.

This event does require you to RSVP though - and you have to RSVP by September 28, 2013. You can RSVP just by saying you are going to this Facebook event - or by emailing kevin.nelson( @ )ecommerce.com.

We do accept Cash, credit cards, and PayPal for payment on-site. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. You can message Jared Elick or Kevin Nelson, or post in the group below.

We hope to see you there!

Dude, you're really running the Team Serious BU Sewer Control list? A bold move by a bold man!

I so wish I could make it to this tourney.
