If this card was good, why does Mirri's Guile see no play?  It digs deeper for 2 less mana...is indestructible + pitching to force worth 2 colorless mana?

I really like the synergy between this and counterbalance. In the late game, rather than finding an otherwise useless sorcery to make angels or animate a puny, destructable land, the scry-machine turns into a 4-turn, unblockable clock. Of course Jace already does something similar.

This doesnŽt make it vintage playable at all of course, but IŽd like to give it a swing anyway.

I know we have fetches already but this card works as a psuedo Preordain every turn which works amazingly with Jace/Top.  Also you guys all seem to be forgetting this guy:

+

making him unblockable and making my God a 5/5.....now were talking! Smile

I can see it played in vial wizards, for example. That deck features voidmage prodigy, sower of temptation, meddling mage, snapcaster... has lots of small creatures that could benefit from being unblocked (lots of times the opponent can stabilize at a small amount of life) and the scry would be a bonus since that deck has small manipulation. and the 5/5 is massive against stalled aggro matches, when a tarmo can crush the entire board in some turns.

or it can be played in a tunned sage of epithyr/ninja of the deep hours deck. that deck could use the unblockable ability for fun, scry complement sage, and can have enough U symbols to activate 5/5 (that body would mean a boost to that deck). instead of playing a UW deck or UR, it can be switched to mono blue with spellstutter and vendillion, being even easier to have 5U.

those decks, while not being tiers, have had good results in the past and could play this card

Back to Basics mono blue control with Selkie instead of Ophidian anyone? Thassa can be your win condition after you countered, bounced, removed everything else Smile

I was going to turn that into a joke with poor taste, but instead I'll say that overbeing of myth and godhead of awe are probably better than invoke prejudice.  Or on a slightly serious note azami in a wizards control deck.

That said, I am interested in what the other god cards will do.  I'm especially interested in black and red.  It would be hilarious to do demigod of revenge tricks on experienced vintage players.  Not necessarily good, but hilarious.

Actually, how does Godhead interact with...  oh snap!  If you remove abilities from a God, it becomes a 5/5 for 2U straight up, doesn't it?

And then it becomes just a 1/1, right?

With Godhead, yes.  In fact, there are no cards in Magic that do not make creatures tiny as well as removing abilities.  I checked.  But -- and this is worth just putting up there in your head for future cards -- if there is ever an effect that simply removes abilities, it might combo with the Gods from this set.

Is a 5/5 indestructible for 3 really that big a deal if you have to combo to get it out?  I mean Phylactery Lich is a bulk rare.

..even if this garbage sees any play,
We have Revoke Existence and Oblivion Ring in white and Deglamer in Green to deal with it if it sneaks past the counterwall. Also, as mentioned before, STP once animated
