For episode 16, Geoff (@ThallidTosser on Twitter) and Nat Moes (@GrandpaBelcher) renconvene with Josh Chapple (@joshchapple) to go over the sights and sounds and tastes of GenCon (It’s usually best to downplay the smells at any large conglomeration of Magic the Gathering players and sundry nerds).

Here’s the timestamped table of contents for your listening ease and enjoyment:

0:00:21 – The Vintage Metagame at GenCon
0:12:26 – Deck Discussions
0:37:14 – Other Fun Times at GenCon
0:49:57 – Eating Around Town in Indianapolis
1:02:30 – Outro
Total runtime – 1:02:59

I actually wanted to ask you about that. What changed your mind? And weren't you complaining about Trinisphere with regards to several of your games throughout the weekend?

I was playing a Forgemaster Shops list similar to Jordi's on Day one so I felt obligated to run it since you can tinker it up. I did happen to mise a turn one Trinisphere once, but the scenario I used in the old podcast came up every time I saw it outside of turn 1. It actually cost me a few games vs Young Pyromancer decks since it didn't stack with my Sphere's already on the board.

After getting popped by three Young Pyromancer decks day one I packed up the Forgemasters and built a Terranova style list for day 2. I did not lose to a Young Pyromance deck after that.

It was great meeting you guys in Indy.

Gen Con is always a great time, Champs or no.  I'm already anticipating the good times to be had next year.

It is very interesting that wotc held a big event for the DND Next roll out and did fudge all to celebrate the 20 year milestone for Magic.  Seeing as how Magic is the engine that runs Wizards and has grown to more than 10% of total revenue for Hasbro, you would think they would have done something, anything at Gen Con this year.  Then again this is the company that consistently mishandles MTGO, so I guess I'm not too surprised.

It would have been cool to hear more about your reasoning behind your deck choices -- about how you approached the metagane etc.  I also wanted to hear more about the team serious hi jinks.

Punch burger is unreal for sandwich punch aficionados.

I was under the impression that Jaco and Jordi were going to put together a photo-essay of the weekend's activities. (I, for one, don't think it's too late for that.)
