Curse of the Swine, XUU

Sorcery

Exile X target creatures. For each creature exiled this way, its controller puts a 2/2 green Boar creature token onto the battlefield.

I am surprised this is not getting more attention than it is.  In Standard, maybe boardwiping into a bunch of 2/2s is not important.  In Legacy merfolk, this seems like a bona fide bomb, plugging a hole in that archetype in a big way.  In Vintage, it answers Blightsteel (which is important for removal) and is essentially a Blue Wrath because most creatures are played for their abilities, not their butts.  Those who are played for butts have big butts, and cannot lie.  This might be a tad on the expensive side (mana wise) for Vintage, but a boardwipe in mono blue makes me very, very interested.

Glad I picked up some Back to Basics last month!

Yet another unplayable card. Merfolk doesn't care. Either their creatures are monstrous or they are running tempo circles around any deck trying to setup Tinker - Blightsteel.

Parralax tide has been a blue wrath for a long time now and sees no play.  This won't either.

Parallax Tide only exiles lands ... i believe you are confusing Parallax Tide with Parallax Wave, which exiles creatures but is white.

You're right, my mistake.  The point still stands though that a blue wrath isn't playable at 4 mana event without a drawback, this still leaves them with creatures to attack you or your pw.  Bounce or splashing another color for more efficient creature removal is better than running this sorcery speed bad pongify.

I think you're being too hasty in dismissing this guy.  A blue wrath is unprecedented.  I agree that the mana cost is suspect.  In a format where all the creatures do something, however, making bacon is tantamount to wiping them.  In a pinch, your jace or echoing truth gets better after this spell, too, but I wouldn't rely on the combo.
.
If this works, I think its because mono blue control just got a huge tool

the fact that it exiles the creatures makes it relevant.  I don't know if this is going to see play or not, but it is a unique and versatile card.

IMO, this is only a good limited card (maybe EDH or type 4). It's expensive, sorcery speed, and still leaves your opponent with a clock.

"Is that a draft deck?" "Why do people keep asking that?"

Ixidron is probably the closest, sure, but the Baconator is a better card.  It scales, for one.  You can drop it to deal with a Blightsteel for 1UU.  Second, it doesn't leave the critters around to be bounced or recurred, which is a big problem if you're dealing with Welder.
