From an italian Web site.

Cc - {U}
Type - Instant
Text - Counter target enchantment, instant, or sorcery spell. Its controller puts a Bird Token 2/2 with flying onto the battlefield under his control.

Sounds pretty good for Eternal formats

This is the first Theros card that looks vintage playable.  Good casting cost, pitchable to force, hard counters instants, manageable drawback.  I think this will find a home, probably in Oath.

If only it could target artifacts instead of enchantments, it would have been a solid maindeck card. Like this it's dead against workshops, but should see at least sideboard play at one point or another.

It's a nicely designed card. WotC should develop more cards like this.

Finally, a relevant Vintage card.  Thank you, Wizards.

Don't some oath builds run spell pierce?  Isn't this a better card than spell pierce for an oath deck?  It can be sided out, and besides you are an oath deck vs shops, you should be able to afford a couple dead cards.

This is a decent side grade to spell pierce, a very vintage playable card.  If it is real as is then I like it.

Yep, this is another good lateral move into more diverse countermagic.  It seems best AGAINST Oath, since it will Counter virtually anything they want to do.

Exactly.  No more preparing against Oath of Druids and getting blown out by Show and Tell.

I like it. Does not redeem this set yet but its a step in the right direction.

I do wish that all the vintage playable upgrade cards were not so very often just another counterspell though. Wouldn't it be nice to have an alternate to bazaar in dredge that was genuinely playable, or like a new tinker bot that was not just blightsteel that made sense to play?

You know there are other tinker bots that see pretty substantial play, like myr battlesphere.

I also thought in oath when seeing this, but just after I saw it as an anti-oath tool.

I don't know is this is playable MD since it does nothing against MUD or dredge and it's quite lame against aggro decks. I think I only would play it in Oath, replacing pierce or mana leak

They are diversifying removal and countermagic, which is good.  It's easy to diversify disruption or answer cards.

It's really hard to diversify active cards in Vintage because they tend to be busted.  I mean, think about your suggestion.  What could compete with Bazaar?  A creature that draws you 2 cards and makes you discard your hand in order to reanimate it?  Yeah, that'd be fair in Modern.  What could compete with Blightsteel?  Making Gleemax into a real card?

finally, a good card in the set.  with curse of the swine on the fringe playable list, and the upgrade to angel of despair, this set is at least not completely worthless.

Although I am going to stick to drafting RTR on MTGO for the next year.

Emrakul is banned in Commander, Blighty is not. Remember that Emrakul sees considerable Legacy play, but Blightsteel sees almost none. The difference is Tinker.

So, artifact Emrakul?

The majority of tinkerbots are still blightsteel last I checked, but still that is just an example.

Cavern of souls arguably created a new archetype in vintage, or at least changed an existing one so substantially it feels new. It shows that you can create something that can shake up the format without breaking others. I would just hope to see more of it out of a large set, but sadly not so much this go round. Im mostly going to buy my singles (which right now seems to be VERY few) and put my Theros money into the next commander set.
