Please let me know if you need decks and/or nice proxies.

Frankie Mach might even be back from Afghanistan for it!

I finished first with the list below. Normally I'm not a fan of Oath, but I decided to try it for this event since Pyromancer decks have been popular lately. My one loss in the Swiss was to a Pyromancer deck.

I used a list by Kevin McKee (http://morphling.de/top8decks.php?id=1810) with a few changes. Rune-Scarred Demon was sweet... you pretty much never lose after an Oath trigger. In the top 4 I just hard cast it off Lotus on turn 4 as a Demonic Tutor with a 6/6 attached and it was great. I think the deck needs more Duress and Flusterstorm, and I'd definitely cut Gifts. Jace and Orchard seems like a non-bo, but hey, it's still Jace. I also won a surprising number of games with Tezzeret.

Main deck:
1 Black Lotus
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Time Vault
1 Voltaic Key
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Duress
3 Rune-Scarred Demon
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
4 Force of Will
1 Gifts Ungiven
2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2 Mana Drain
2 Mental Misstep
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Ponder
1 Repeal
1 Spell Pierce
1 Steel Sabotage
1 Swan Song
1 Tezzeret the Seeker
1 Time Walk
1 Gaea's Blessing
4 Oath of Druids
1 Noxious Revival
1 Ancient Grudge

1 Flooded Strand
4 Forbidden Orchard
1 Island
4 Misty Rainforest
2 Tropical Island
2 Underground Sea
1 Volcanic Island

Sideboard:
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Dragon Breath
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1 Forest
1 Hellkite Tyrant
2 Nature's Claim
1 Nihil Spellbomb
1 Pyroblast
1 Pyroclasm
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Tormod's Crypt

I went 3-0-2 in the swiss with this list. I lost in the top 8 to Heiner (Not a very good matchup for me). I wanted to build something with Young Pyromancer, and this is what I got after 2 months of testing.

Main deck:

1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Ruby
1 Black Lotus
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Island
1 Mountain
3 Volcanic Island
2 Tropical Island
3 Delver of Secrets
3 Young Pyromancer
3 Vendilion Clique
2 Tarmogoyf
1 Snapcaster Mage
4 Force of will
3 flusterstorm
2 Mental misstep
2 Spell snare
2 Steel Sabotage
3 Gush
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
4 Lightning bolt
1 Fire // Ice
1 Ancient Grudge
1 Price of Progress
1 Ponder
2 Preordain
1 Time Walk

Sideboard:
3 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Null rod
2 Izzet Staticaster
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Pyroblast
1 Red Elemental Blast
2 Ravenous trap
2 Steel Sabotage

As you can probably see by my sideboard, I was not prepared to fight Oath (I should have come to the conclusion that Oath would be well positioned in our metagame right now). Vendilion clique was my MVP all day, just as I thought he would be. Thanks to everyone who was there, it was a great day.

This was a great tournament.  We had 25 players, which I believe made this the largest Vintage tournament in the US that day (the east coast tournament had only 17 players).
Hiryu and I split the prizes in the finals, but wanted to play it out for experience and glory.  He finally broke his streak and won one of these Smile

By request, pics from the tourney.

This looks like I drop a Karn like it's hot, and have all sorts of Shopsy fun vs ecampee. He SB's the shit out of the next two games and totally dominated the last two games.

Dude I'm playing against is totally down for Vintage, as long as someone hands him a deck. So he plays new decks each tourney.  Provided by me.  This time, he dies with his Emrakul AND BSC in play. Smile

That's Sam Sherman attacking vintage folk from some angle we don't see.  He top 8's most events he goes to.

There were at least 3 teens at the event, slugging out with the old'uns.  Truly a special feeling that seriously, our local scene can grow.

I've observed them talking themselves through the steps, playing properly, and doing their homework.  Yes, many new faces at the tourney.

There were two Doomsday Gush decks fucking up our metagame, and at least one made top 8 I think. Smile

Um, is this that Molly thing I keep hearing about on the internet?

Frankie Mach slinging Vintage about 12 hours after getting back from Afghanistan.  He had to play whatever deck I had built cuz his newly fully powered deck was in storage.

When Webster wants to take time off from his full time job of living and breathing Magic: The Gathering, he plays Magic: The Gathering with Sol Ring and no Commander Zone.

Kidz can play Vintage too!  I think one made top 8 (again)

Fresh new faces mean fresh new Rogue Decks!

Choose your path!

Proxy vs No Proxy!

Vacaville local Matt Salts realized a few years ago that Vintage Cards are Investments and Stick Around Forever and standard cards are for suckers, so has been slowling building his own Vintage pool.  I think he's down to 2 or 3 proxies.  He got his ass handed to him at this tourney, if I recall.

Frankie does not have a 1000 yard stare from his tour of duty in a war zone.  It's Frankie looking deep into your sexy soul, you TMD lurker you... Smile

Alex Bloch (original Team Vacaville member) has finally gone legit, got a J.O.B., and still has the cards to make Crushing Chamber or Oath of Druids.

Top 8 shot, most likely. Brett Allen (Hiryu) vs Sam Sherman and Unknown vs David Ochoa (Webster)

Other top 8 shot. Stephen Menendian (Smennen) vs Unknown and Heiner Litz (Heiner) vs unknown.

It's crazy, but Heiner's graveyard could put this kid through college.

Vintage Magic is like Chess for Ninjas.
