So, since I've been given the chance to run Vintage Champs this year, that increases everyone's else chances! Who's going home with the trophy this year?

Nope, my money is on Rich Shay like always. I would absolutely love to see Rich win. Beyond being one of the most talented players in the format (he won a Vintage tournament with a pre-con!!!), Rich is one of the best guys I know. If Rich were to win Champs, it would be a victory for the format. Guys like that deserve to be rewarded. I have a short list of guys that I'd like to see win the event. I want to see Raf Forino win Champs more than I want to see myself win Champs. It's game-time.

I want to see Raf Forino win Champs more than I want to see myself win Champs. It's game-time. A top 8 with Rich Shay has instant credibility and gravitas - so I'm all for that. Plus, I'm 4-1 against Rich Shay in Vintage tournament matches (including a Vintage Championship finals and two SCG P9 events), so I'm doubly for that In response to the OP, I think it might be fun to post odds on winners. What are the odds of Paul or Rich winning? Gearing up for this tournament and sensing the enthusiasm over it, I miss the days of regular huge, competitive Vintage tournaments when SCG Circuit was at its peak.

Also, don't forget about that special time when we had teams vying for Vintage supremacy. GWS vs ICBM vs Meandeck vs GG's vs Reflection vs etc... Those days were sweet. So far it looks like this is turning out to be a good ol fashioned slobberknocker.

I hope that Demars and Menendian top 8 since they are the ones who usually have the most exciting new decks. I wouldn't mind one of the Lancaster PA players winning though Good luck to everyone who competes!

I am really looking forward to this event. My top 8 picks: Paul Mastriano Smennen Rich Shay Raf Forino Yangtime Tom Dixon Joe Brown Brian DeMars (ME) Aaaaaand, a Meandecker will probably win. (but, what else is new?). I'm testing with Paul for days before the event, so pretty sure that makes us the prohibitive favorites to win this event. @Twaun007: is that the kind of old time trash talking, circa 2006, that you've been waiting for? There are going to be more great Vintage players dueling at this event than there are room for in the top eight! I can't even express how much I am looking forward to this event and hanging out with the Vintage crowd. I have been in Vintage mode for the entire past week and I so ready to battle.

@Twaun007: is that the kind of old time trash talking, circa 2006, that you've been waiting for?
You know it. I'm hoping that someone institutes the Braggin Rights Supreme act of 2k11. Team rivalry, a.k.a. Braggin Rights Supreme October 2011: Here is how its gonna go down. Teams of three will agree prior to the event to play as a team and will register(seperate from a deck registration...it will be done on a different sheet of paper). Each teams cost is $9...$3 per person. Then, at the end of the tournament, the teams with the highest combined number of match points(top 16 matches-finals count as 3 points per match, just as in the swiss) will win.
If enough teams enter, there may be a second place prizes or more, but the number of teams entering, and thus the collected entry fees, will determine the prizes. In the event of a tie for match points, the average opponent match win percentage of the three players on each team will be computed and compared.
After round 3 team designations will be inserted into players names, so teams may view each other team's players and match points on the pairings/standings.

I'd love to get games in with my ECW teammates against opposing teams. I'm up for a throwdown, Twaun.

I read from somewhere that there will be some sort of livestreaming from the event. Is this true? And where can I find it? Also am I able to watch the coverage later?

I'm happy to officially let everyone know that I'll be bringing a very half-assed and under-powered deck and still bringing that painting home with me.

I've prepared for very few tournaments over the last year 1/2 and have top 8'd 5/7 PTQ's i've played in, lost playing for top 8 of a GP(with no byes) and top 8'd the NYSE Open(only vintage tournament i've played this year). I'm playing 10x better magic now than I was when I lost in the finals of a PTQ(then won the next PTQ), have been talking to players that're MUCH better than me/helping them prepare for Pro Tours, have been building/tuning absurdly good decks(RG Gyse Sage for standard, BG for modern, Blue Angels) and am on a VERY strong vintage team(ECW). I feel more prepared for this tournament than I have any other and am going to be VERY dissapointed if I don't at least top 8. My only magic goal from here on out is winning a trophy and I plan on making that happen this weekend.

You know, as far as statistics go, check the win rates of the participating players... like (win / champs played). Math is on my side - and I should let you know that we have some backup! And in case you don't know: Our cards sound more angry, too!

Now, i dont really know the names of any asian vintage players. But my money is on one of those Its pretty easy to pick them out on the player list. Their names make it easy, you know, like Rob Edwards and Samantha Reichert.
