Soul of New Phyrexia
6, Artifact Creature - Avatar, 6/6
5: Permanents you control gain Indestructible until end of turn.
5, Exile this from your yard: Permanents you control gain Indestructible until end of turn.

If we're starting threads for garbage like Punching Gloves of Avarice or whatever, then we should definitely at least take a peek at this fellow.  He seems like a contender for the Wurmcoil/Karn/Trike/Hellkite slot in shops.  Here's how I think about him:

1. His casting cost is fine.  Shops plays 6 drops all the time.  Like Wurmcoil, his body wins just about every fight against a creature that didn't come out with Oath or Tinker.

2. His activation cost is not terrible.  The fact that you cannot activate him off a Workshop is a problem, but if you're running a Metalworker build, I would think you'd have 5 in midgame more often than not.

3. And, here's the kicker.  Like Wurmcoil, this is a threat even after the player deals with it.  You can resolve it early to put on pressure.  If they kill it, fine, whatever, you have a 5 mana counterspell on tap for Chewer/Claim whatever later on.  If they don't kill it and you get to 5 mana, it becomes nearly impossible for them to stop you unless they have Recall.

So, where does he fit?  Wurmcoil is probably better in a void.  But, Worker decks that would board him in against decks with heavy artifact destruction, such as white, red, or green aggro lists.   Also seems very fine against Noble Fish, where you expect to see lots of Pridemages and Predators.

All around, very solid.

Does nothing I want him to do and while 6 is castable in MUD, a 5 activation is not.

What match-up would you ever want this in?  Against a keeper deck from 2004?

Does nothing?  You're not being fair.  He's a massive beater, which is basically what Wurmcoil gives you.  He also gives you protection against any form of removal that is not Swords or Recall, which again, is what Wurmcoil gives you.  While Coil gives you a second round of beaters once it dies, and so is probably better as a pure aggressive card, Soul protects everything.  It basically locks the game once you have him online, and even if he dies, its' almost like having a counterspell in your yard.

He seems very fair for shops to consider.

I'll probably be playing against him a couple of times in practice but outside a combo shop dec I don't think it's offering much.

Sent from my phone, sorry for errors.

I think casual 12-Post is the only place this guy will see play.

The best part of wurmcoil is the lifelink and incremental card advantage associated with him.  This has neither.  It is a 6/6 trampler, who cares.  I'd rather play juggernaut.

I think Soul of New Phyrexia does not do enough at 6 CMC (or 11 mana with an activation) to be in any shop list. Glaring Spotlight for 1 CMC or Eldrazi Monument for 5 CMC are better cards and they have yet to see play.
