This just in from the eternal clown show that is the Magic Online Live team:
Queues end on 7/25, come back for two weeks in August and then gone forever (until throwback draft).
Sealed Dailies only until 7/25 and then probably gone forever.
Vintage Constructed DE/PE unaffected (as far as we currently know) and the status of 2 man and 8 man queues is currently unknown.
Just another colossal "miscommunication" by the team that is going to force you into the beta in 2 weeks.

Wow literally everybody I spoke to were under the impression they'd be in till Khans was released. How idiotic. Does this mean prices for vintage will skyrocket once the set leaves?

Yeah, if you haven't bought in yet, I would consider it.
There will be some lag between now and when this sinks in with everyone. Prices are fairly near the recent lows so it should the best time to buy in for the forseeable future.

This stinks. I was hoping that that it would continue until at least Khans. I am still banking on some kind of huge mtgo crash to really buy in, but at least I cracked a lotus in one of my drafts. I wish I had more spare scratch to do more drafts/open more packs. I'd like for there to just be more sets out there to keep the price down.

Their position seems to be that they said that product would be available until Khans, not that drafting would be available. Price have been on a slow decline over the last week. With this announcement, I expect they're about as low as they'll be unless a bunch of people drop off and sell out when v4 "leaves beta."

And Black Lotus jumped 30 dollars and all power is sold out on MTGO traders. Just as I was waiting for my last paycheck from work and selling my bulk in an effort to jump in. What poor timing...

So Wizards is practically eager to break promises made recently for mtgo, to the disdain of the players, but fanatically stick to a promise they made 19 years ago, also to the disdain of the playerbase. It seems to me that Wotc just wants to screw the eternal playerbase over. This is unacceptable for a company that prises itself on communication with its customers.

I'm glad I bought in last week. Although dropping 115 each on wastelands blew big time. Now I'm worried about their price dropping.

The issue for me isn't the availability but rather the price. Black Lotus at 150 dollars is much easier for me to swallow than at 180-190 dollars. It's like the price of gas: I know I'll be able to fill up my tank but at what cost.

Ugh, so glad I took your advice Krauser. Thank you. I bought in on power a couple hours after you made this thread and I think it was when power hit it's cheapest point. Issue is all I picked up was power, still not gotten into duals or forces but I'll do that eventually.

Everything will creep up for a while. There may be a dip once the queues come back in August, but I don't expect much of one.
According this schedule was made to keep all of the Vintage cards, power especially, "special". I read that as they think the prices are too low, which I call major bullshit on.
Moxen, even at their highest, were under Wasteland, Show and Tell, Tarmogoyf and Misdirection. Arbitrarily messing with the economy and stifling the growth of the vintage format at the same time.
They should be trying to get power and staples to as large a base as possible. Even 3 months of events wouldn't be enough to keep the price of Power from maintaining high prices in the medium to long term.
The miscommunication makes it worse, but I do not support the current schedule either way.

This is unfortunate. I also was under the impression that the limited events would be available until Khans released. What is the value of virtual packs you can't play limited with?
I already bought power and have been playing in the vintage daily/tournament practice. Guess I will pick up the rest of the duals and other stuff I wanted from Vintage Masters to play Legacy now.

I was thinking about an investment in Dual lands and Forces anyway, then I read this information by Krauser. I checked the prices before going to sleep, and when I got back up I saw an increase of about 10% already. Bought all that I wanted from VMA and some cards that were still missing for full playsets this morning, I expect the price for dual lands (especially Tundra) to go way up a few days after the drafting stops. MTGO is really the fastest market you can ever imagine.
I had to skip on getting a second set of P9 though, as Lotus was already up to way over 200 again (think you could get it for 140 yesterday). These jumps are just sick.

Congrats, Worth! You made them "special" (i.e. too f'ing expensive) again. Rant aside, I'm hoping that this is a temporary spike based on the urgency created by Worth's announcement and comes back down as people continue to open power over the next two weeks (though admittedly not to all time lows).

I just bought into Vintage on MODO, thinking that the market wouldn't get any lower. That is an investment of over $1,000.
I have been deceived to purchase a product based on lies from the company.
I don't know how this is anything other than a deceptive market practice.

The nail in the coffin for me is the mercantile aspect of this game. You just can't do without it. I realise that we have to feed the Goose that lays the golden eggs but it's interfering too much with what actually matters to me: having fun in gaming. I'm over it.
Take my money, take it. I just want nothing to do with that stock exchange stuff. Just charge me a bloody monthly fee!

I just posted this on the Wizards Community board:
Dear folks behind Magic Online,
I would like to convey the amount of damage that this turnabout has caused to me, and other people who have been hoping simply to enjoy your product and your game. I am a long-time Vintage player who has avoided Magic Online primarily because of my concerns about the user interface and the cost. Yesterday, once the announcement was made to discontinue VMA drafts in the course of a few weeks, I started to notice that the price of Vintage cards in Magic Online were rising quickly. While I do have my concerns about the client, if this is where the future of my beloved Vintage format was going to be, then I wanted to be a part of that. I felt I needed to move in before the prices put Vintage Online forever out of reach of a student such as myself. So, yesterday, I acquired a large number of Magic Online cards. In the past 24 hours, I've invested over $1000 of cards and cash into Vintage Online. And I am not the only person who did this.
Now, just one day after moving a large amount of my own net worth into Magic Online because of what I was told by Worth and the rest of the Magic Online team, we are being told that yesterday's announcement was a lie. A lie that resulted in a lot of money being funneled into Magic Online. I say lie, rather than an honest mistake, because Worth not only stated that VMA drafts would end, but also confirmed that they would end and even gave his reasoning for their ending. Indeed, I felt especially comfortable moving my money into Magic Online because of Worth's statement, "the rationale is that I want to make sure they stay special, and revered." If what you said yesterday was not, in fact, a lie, then the fix is simple -- simply say that you are discontinuing the drafts as you said that you would.
And now, after clearly stating that VMA drafts would end in July, and explaining why this would happen, merely 24 hours later, we are being told that the drafts will not end in July, but will instead continue into the fall. This has huge implications for those of us who bought into Magic Online since yesterday's announcement. Perhaps this was a deceptive marketing practice to lure more money and players into Magic Online. Certainly, that was the effect that this had on me and other Vintage players. Perhaps, instead, Wizards decided that they were simply making too much money from VMA drafts to stop them. In either case, you should stick by what you said yesterday and halt the VMA drafts. I, and a number of other fans of the game with limited means, trusted your word and made hefty financial decisions based on that word. We are now being punished for listening to you and believing you. Worth, saying that you will do without ice cream will not solve this. In fact, that tweet is insulting to those of us who are watching our newly acquired Magic Online cards shed value while you are forced to make due with frozen yogurt. Rich Shay

My point is that players should have an option not to gamble on stock market if they don't want to.
Wizards business model unfortunately has been written that way and to me it's wrong for the "Game". I don't believe this model is sustainable for any constructed Eternal formats. For that reason, I don't think Vintage will suddenly reborn thanks to MTGO. Of course, interest will spike for a little while and very soon people will get priced out and interest will drop. Only a few hardcore players will stay hooked same as Paper MTG.
