It's about Time!

So it's been a bit of a delay since we last hosted a larger caliber event at Pandemonium.  I had to go and get married so that took up a lot of my time.  However, do not fret because we have another event!  Saturday September 6th come down to Pandemonium to sling cards for fabulous prizes!

How do you play you ask?

WHERE:
Pandemonium Books and Games
4 Pleasant Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
(617) 547-3721

WHEN:
Saturday September 6th

The event begins at 12pm. Registration starts at 11:00.

WHAT:Main Vintage Event!
$30 entry fee
10 Proxy free with Entry fee with the option to buy 5 additional proxies for $1 each
Decklists required.

PRIZES!

Guaranteed!

We will continue to offer the same 1k guaranteed prize support for this event. Pandemonium as usual will be stocked with vintage staples for your purchasing pleasure.

Tarmogoyfs
Dark Confidants
Dual Lands
Force of Wills
Fetch Lands
Wastelands
Etc, Etc, Etc, you get the idea.

Your credit will not go to waste.

[/size]

PROXY RULES:

Acceptable Proxy Methods:
    1. Full Card Printed on Card Stock.  (ie: you blanked a normal magic card and then ran it through a printer.)
    2. Clearly Hand written fully blank card.     (ie: You blanked a normal magic card and then neatly hand wrote all relevant information on it.)
    3. Relevant Information neatly written on a basic land with Sharpie

**Note: Relevant Information is defined as follows:
    1. Card Name
    2. Mana Cost
    3. Card type
    4. Full card text or a reasonable abbreviation
    5. Power/Toughness/Loyalty where applicable

Failure to provide adequate proxies will result in a warning or game loss should a judge need to be called.  I hate to be so harsh on this, but a lot of players put a lot of time and effort into making their decks and expect some effort from their opponents.
If you have any questions regarding your proxies please approach myself or one of the other organizers or judges and have us check them before the tournament starts.

Linked to calendar. -Godder

Unless I've gone crazy, the first Saturday in September is the 6th, not the 4th.
Logged

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

This event is tomorrow, and I have seen zero trash talking.  This saddens me.

I hope irate Landstill guy shows up again and I beat his face in... again. (Nice Grim Lavamancer bro - check out my 3/4).

I hope someone takes out that beyond sleazy Merfolk player who kept shuffling people's deck for them and looking at the cards while doing it.

For a limited time only I am offering you folks the deal of a lifetime. For this tournament only I am willing to allow you to forego the pointless exercise of me beating you into submission in this tournament for a one time fee of $35 that can be mailed directly to me. Now some of you may be saying "Wow, this sounds great Mike, but $35 is pretty steep, the tournament entry is only $30!". You really need to look at some of the fringe benefits of what my plan provides. Not only do you save yourself the entry fee, you also save literally hours of your time! What is an hour of your time worth to you? Since you're most certainly going 0-2 drop it might be saving you just 2+ hours of your time, but it's also saving you the commute time as well as the subway fare or parking fees.

I'm also saving you the public humiliation of being stomped into the ground by me. How much would you pay to not have your confidence completely shattered and reputation in the Vintage community destroyed. When you add together all these factors I think you'll agree with me that my plan provides a great net positive result.

I'm sad to report that those of you who would have been lucky enough to get paired against me have one less free win tomorrow.  It looks like I can't make it after all Sad

If anyone loses any matches against me tomorrow, they're doing it wrong.

Can one trash talk whilst being self deprecating?

Congratulations to Paul Ewenstein for taking down the event with U/W Stone Blade.  Some excellent magic played by everyone in the Top 8.

Total turnout was 33 players and we had a great day of magic.

TO Report to come soon.  So stay tuned.

Hah, good one. Yup I did it all wrong, from deck choice to mulligans.  Bringing in Strip Mine from the board yielded some fun though.

Thanks again to Craig for gathering us together.  As always, can't wait for the next one.
