Hotel
This particular weekend is a very busy weekend in Philadelphia and because of that there weren't any downtown hotels with enough space for a room block. However, we have secured a hotel block at the Holiday Inn just outside the city in nearby Cherry Hill, NJ. For those of you familiar with Top Deck Games, this is the site we used to host the Summer Open at, with the awesome BBQ restaurant Red, Hot, and Blue in the same building. The rate is $104/night, and can be booked HERE until October 9th or whenever the block fills, whichever is first.

Still working on it; our suggestion has been to book a room yourself, and then if we're able to get a better priced room block, cancel and re-book with us!  Either way, make sure that you're set first.

I'm really glad that the Trial is now scheduled at a particular time.  That was a problem last year.   I'm not sure what to think about the VIP/non-VIP options, though.

You know, I was already sad for not attending this year (due to being in california at that time, d'oh Sad ), but then I read this:

"Personal lunch delivery service from the Reading Terminal Market"

And I could bite myself ^^ I think this is a reasonable addition for some people that wanna do it. Just don't forget to include free water - this is what gets the most positive feedback of the VIP stuff at the Grand Prixs I heard from. It is surely worth some buck if you don't need to worry how to get water and/pr food in between rounds. I personally don't like this two-class society stuff, but I can't deny that it is a good offer AND Americans should be used to this two-class thinking a bit  Very Happy *ducks and runs out*

Trials starting at a set time are fantastic, how about a fixed Vintage event on Friday? I enjoy legacy but I can play it 3 times a week, my opportunities to play real vintage with real cards are more limited.

Or maybe a 1v1 commander or Old School rules event on Friday? Maybe staggered after the 2pm legacy so we could scavenge the 0-2 drops from that event (start @ 4 and do 4-5 fixed swiss rounds with some prizes for 4-0, 3-1, and 3-0-1?).

Maybe VIPs could get a small dedicated (1/2 hour?) window with the artists? That might sell some folks on it ... besides being able to order schnitzle on demand.

Thanks again Nick.

If we allow Korean Revised I'm in Wink ... I'm likely blowing off Legacy champs to play the Vintage trial (and gorge myself)

Would probably need to settle on an exact list ...

Or Saturday late afternoon ... 3 man vintage team challenge?

I'd love to participate if one is running. Is there some centralized source of information about the rules of this format? It sounds incredibly fun to me, sadly there are no such events here so I'm quite unfamiliar!

When I asked Nick he said he was working on it but that we should all plan on having it not be available in case it falls through.

I don't know if ya'll saw this

However, given the amount of visitors to the city this weekend, we highly suggest that you find alternate accomodations for the time being and simply cancel them when the Eternal Weekend Hotel Block becomes available.

I've never booked a hotel in Philly. Availability was slim, as the above would suggest. I couldn't find anything in the city for less than $350. My friend went to comic con this year and said that his hotel near the convention center wasn't nearly as expensive. I'm too old to be sleeping like squatters and fighting people for bed and floor space. I got a hotel in nearby NJ.

Any travel advisories for going through CrackDen to the Ben?

Thugs I know from Jersey City, Newark and Paterson are scared of Camden. I'm not a thug, nor am I from a city, so I should feel that and then some. Any words of wisdom for staying in Cherry Hill Crown Plaza?

Yep, I tried booking in Philly too and I couldn't find anything reasonably priced. I don't mind roughing it out, sort of, but I was hoping for an actual holiday so I'd highly prefer not to!

Does anybody have any suggestions for where I can find booking in the city?

Wondering the same!

Last year I booked a hotel by the airport and got a decent deal.  However, it was really out of the way and I definitely recommend you don't go that route. (but it is an option) Personally was hoping to have found a hotel by now in the city, but everything seems to be astronomically priced.  If I find something reasonably priced I'll post details.

I don't know the hotel specifically but Cherry Hill is a nice area. I would think that you can stay on major highways/roads to get to the Ben Franklin. If that's the case, then you have nothing to worry about, but I wouldn't suggest detours to site see in Camden.
