I'm not aware of anyone else having written a book on Gush :p
Thanks for the support in the finals. I'd talk more about it, but I don't want to give anything away.
I've heard tales of a children's book *written by someone else*. *Apparently this sentence wasn't clear. I thought it was pretty straightforward but apparently I was wrong. Edited for further clarity.

There is indeed other books titled "Gush." For example: Gush http://www.amazon.com/Gush-Yo-Hemmi/dp/1582436266/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1415844951&sr=8-5&keywords=Gush"The title story recounts the narrator’s relationship with a beautiful young woman who suffers from a mysterious condition that causes her body to fill with water, and only performing shameful acts, like shoplifting imported cheeses or making love, allows the water to be released. But as summer wanes into fall and the waters run dry, their relationship develops a divergent sense of urgency that neither of them could have expected." Which is pretty much the same thing as the book Steve wrote, I guess. I suspect there is no confusion about which "Gush" one refers to when escorting Mr. Menedian into the ring to do battle, however.

I think we all need 200+ pages on any single card. Don't worry I know you are all waiting with bated breath for my novella on the usage of Tower of Calamities.

I could write a 200+ page book on Battle of Wits but all it would consist of would be one giant image of a card per page with the words "Eh, why not" in the captions. P.S. Turns out 4 x Treasure Cruise and 4 x Dig Through Times are the correct numbers for Modern Battle of Wits. I know, groundbreaking.

Guys, this thread is here to discuss the Vintage Super League. This is not a thread for you to make fun of anyone's reading level. This is not a thread for you to try and convince people to buy a book. Please don't let this thread be derailed. Thank you.

On the flip side, choosing to play Belcher in an exhibition match was less perfect..

I dunno, it enabled my favorite commentator line all night: "Welcome to the Vintage Super League!" (Following two nearly first turn wipeouts)

I probably wouldn't want to play more than a 2 turn game against Kai either.

Maybe I'm missing something, but when and where is the final going to be? I can't find advertising anywhere.
P.S. Why can't I find advertising anywhere? Are we not hyping this? Is Wizards not hyping it?

Key people at Wizards (such as MaRo) absolutely loathe the Eternal formats and wish they would just disappear, so don't expect much hype from official channels.
I'm assuming the finals will take place on Tuesday at the usual time. There's a guy on reddit that usually posts the time information (the day of) but I agree that's not a reason to pass up hyping the finals now.

Randy Buehler is advertising it. Just go to the vintage super league page as well

He has a schedule posted but it does not include the finals. I guess one can intuit that it's tomorrow night and all, but I would have expected the finals of such a well-watched event to be a little more hyped. Heck, detailed bios would be a nice start. :-/

Disagree, it was awesome Don't get me wrong. I'm a degenerate combo player and loved every moment of it. It was just kind of annoying to hear everyone instantly exclaim "vintage turn 1 format" in response. I guess I'm overthinking it...

The stream is not online yet...?
EDIT: Ah. They changed streams. For pete's sake, guys, this was advertised like a quiet fart.
EDIT: I spoke too soon. Looks like that was not even the live game. Well, I give up. I can't find it. I guess I'll look on youtube later in the week.

Thanks for the pointer, I was able to tune in just in time to watch you start winning and keep winning until LSV was sent rolling back to Standard!
Congrats!

Congratulations Steve!
While I think LSV is a very skilled and classy player, I was glad to see a Vintage expert bring home the title.
I don't think you played as poorly as you were worried about in the post-game interview: the only clearly questionable play I remember was letting LSV's Dig Through Time resolve in game 2 of the first match.

It was also amusing to witness Chris's growing consternation during the games where he was commentator. I can understand where he was coming from, but feel that his reactions were mostly due to an incomplete understanding of the matchup and how a Delver deck most successfully beats the Oath plan. Once you have a chance to watch the replay I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Congrats, Steve! Nice to have "proof" on the debate pro players vs format knowledge regarding Vintage. I love that you were the one that won this first one. It's great to defend the format and the necessity to understand it to play better.
