Blurb: In this report, I will describe my latest efforts to abuse Gush in Vintage and for attacking the Vintage metagame more broadly. I will set out my design goals and metagame considerations in designing an optimal Gush decks. I will also describe my tournament performance at the prestigious, $100 entry, 90+ players, NYSE Open II held in New York in June, 2014, with a play-by-play account. Here is what I played:
URg Delver, by Stephen Menendian
4 Delver of Secrets 4 Young Pyromancer 2 Snapcaster Mage 2 Trygon Predator 4 Force of Will 3 Mental Misstep 2 Flusterstorm 2 Spell Pierce 2 Misdirection 4 Gush 4 Preordain 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Time Walk 1 Brainstorm 1 Ponder 3 Lightning Bolt 1 Fire/Ice 1 Ancient Grudge 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Ruby 3 Volcanic Island 2 Island 2 Tropical Island 4 Scalding Tarn 1 Misty Rainforest 1 Polluted Delta 1 Flooded Strand
Sideboard 4 Ingot Chewer 1 Mountain 1 Nature’s Claim 3 Grafdigger’s Cage 4 Leyline of the Void 2 Pyroblast
After a crazy delay that was not my fault (I wrote it and submitted it months ago), and trying to figure out how to get my report published, since VintageMagic doesn't yet have a site, my report is being distributed as a free PDF for folks who request it. Here's how to get it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.698818113527883.1073741866.478134122262951&type=3Again, I'm sorry for the delay, but I think you'll find it worth the read. It's VERY Long.

Maybe the PDF explains this (it hasn't found it's way to my inbox yet) but it seems like Green is purely there as a hedge against Mishra's Workshops decks. The only cards I see that use Green mana in any way are 2x Trygon Predator, 1x Ancient Grudge, and 1x Nature's Claim in the sideboard. Without basic Forest or Mox Emerald it's impossible to cast any of these Green cards without opening yourself up to Wasteland. Can you talk a little bit about the tradeoff a more stable manabase (using Red's numerous anti-Shops cards) vs. the Green options?

Oath of Druids is also included in the hedge to add Green.

The green against Workshops is largely a mid-game plan, with Grudge/Trygons, and not as pressing as getting red up for Ingot Chewer.

It's also worth noting that Grudge is a solid card against most of the field. It can cut an opponent off a color in some cases, or perform the simple job of cutting them off mana. It can keep them off Tinker or disrupt Vault Key. Additionally, It is worth leaving in against Bug Fish and some Rug builds as a tutorable out to Jitte (Smmenen's build doesn't run Jitte in the board, but some do).The card is good enough against the field that at the NYSE I boarded a second copy in for 6 out of 7 rounds, and only boarded the main deck copy out in Round Two against Merfolk.

A bunch were sent out. It's not an automated system, so it may take a day or two for the emails to be responded to.

Why do I have to give so much personal information to receive an electronic newsletter? What is done with my information? I enjoy reading your reports and articles but the information required by Daniel Chang in addition to the rather low ease of access compared to something like Eternal Central is making me rather uncomfortable.
Finding quality Type 1 content in sufficient quantities to keep me engaged is already hard enough without adding all of these addition hoops.

It's only because their website isn't up yet. When it's up, this report becomes a web page instead of an emailed PDF.

You don't have to. It's not a required field. I think he's just using a standard form for signing up for the newsletter.

You have to give your name, email, and city/state/country. The other fields are optional.

So, apparently Paul Mastriano's Waterbury report is also available now through the same mechanism.

OK. This is a good point I did not think of. I also feel better because the street portion is optional.

I followed the steps to get the article on Saturday and still haven't gotten the Tournament Report. Can anyone LMK how long the wait time has been for them?

You would have to email them and ask for it, at least that was how I got my copy.

I would love to read the report, but not if I need to jump through a bunch of hoops... Thanks if you can make that happen. Kevin
