Sunday, March 15 - Vintage:

$60 Entry
11 AM Player Meeting
Swiss rounds, Cut to Top 8
Un-sanctioned, 15 proxies

1st:  Altered, Unlimited Black Lotus (scans will be posted by 2/1 for all cards)
2nd:  Altered Mox
3rd:  Mox (TBD, by 2/1)
4th:  Time Vault
5th-8th:  1 Blue Dual

All proxies must follow these guidelines:

Please do not use the back of a Magic card for a proxy!

There are two types of acceptable proxies.  The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it.  The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erasing any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a extra fine point Sharpie.  Ball point pens may not be used:

• The full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)
• Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols
• All relevant/game effecting text

When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules:

• The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied.
• The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card.
• The power/toughness of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature's power/toughness.
• When proxying a creature, it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match.  In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the sub-type.  Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected.
• The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness and thickness of the card and may mark it.
• When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen.  An extra fine point Sharpie is the best thing to use.  A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card, marking it.
• For reasons of clarity, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged

The Lotus itself will be altered by the one and only Sandreline!!!  She will also be in attendance (her first time on U.S. soil).

She has also designed a playmat that will be given exclusively to winners of satellite events (click the satellites tab for more info).

So come out and jam all the Eternal formats with us at Tales of Adventure!

Prizes for all events will scale with attendance, if we exceed these goals:

Legacy: 350+
Modern: 200+
Vintage: 75+

All prizes are GUARANTEED.

Cheers,

Cal

There will be at the very least 1 carload gauranteed from the Boston area.  But its looking like easily 10 people to make the trip.  My car will be playing both vintage and legacy.

This falls during my spring break, which is fantastic.  Definitely planning to drive out to it.

Klug posted this the other day, supposedly as a prize for this event: Sapphire

Too bad I live in the wrong part of the country to make this event.

Should be there for this!  Calvin, the website says entry is $50, but here on TMD it says $60.  Which is accurate?  Are byes able to be earned for this?

The Lotus as first place prize has the downside of not being very resell-able.  Could we get an idea of what you would buy it back for?  I'm having a hard time making the trip get get a prize that has such a limited group to potentially trade/sell it to.  It also has the potential of being deemed unplayable by a judge.  So more pics would be nice as well.

The cheapest beat UL Lotuses are going for about $3,500~ US. I think that's a safe baseline for a 3rd party sale assuming it isn't so thick with paint that it would be marked. The alterer is pretty renowned and I would think if her work was commonly disallowed she wouldn't have such good business. All my opinion of course.

I really need the OP to comment on this.  My trip depends on that buy back, as I'm sure others do.  I'm not voicing this opinion as my own, but the opinion of a group of players interested in going.

apologies for the late response. there will be a buy back option for all the prizing like most any other event. this card has been a loaner lotus for the last 2 eternal weekends, for which i was a vendor and the owner of said lotus. the card has been deemed playable by EW's head judge Nick Sabin(for the last 2 years) and by Lindsey Burley who is the L2 who does the alter legality conferences across the country at various events. not sure what other info i can give you at the time. hope you make it out.

cheers,

I'm thinking of coming down from CT for this.  Anyone interested in carpooling?  Not feeling that drive alone.

Hi All,

I desperately need a ride for this event.

I live in New York City (Queens).

I'm open to going for Legacy and Vintage, in which case I can book a hotel nearby, or just going for Vintage.

Wiling to split gas/toll as needed.

Please let me know if anyone has an extra spot in their car coming from the NYC area. Thanks a ton!

Same here, actually. I don't have a legacy deck or anything but I'd love to come down for the Vintage event.
