Pre-reg list has been updated.  I don't think I've seen Travis Laplante at a tournament in at least four years, but that looks like it's going to change.

Congratulations to Michael Scheffenacker and Jonathan Geras on winning free entry to the NYSE Open!

Pre-registration has been updated.  We now have less than two weeks left for registration at $100.  Please remember that registrants after 6/7 will be charged the full $125.  Please save yourselves the extra $25 if you intend on coming, and pre-register for the event.

Is anyone driving/carpooling to this from the far west? (California-Midwest) I thought maybe I could save some money by flying into the west coast instead of all the way east.

The pre-registration list has been updated!  We're into the last week of pre-registration for the event, so if you intend on attending, please pre-register this week!  Pre-registration closes at 12:00 Monday, so you only have until Sunday night.

I've been looking to add unique things to the N.Y.S.E. Open that I haven't seen at events before, and thought were cool, and I have something else to add to the event.  I have had custom table numbers printed, with the font used on Greg Fenton's N.Y.S.E. Open III playmat.  These table numbers have been printed on high quality cream colored paper.  At the end of the last round, I'm going to invite anyone who's interested in taking table numbers 17-75 with them.  My intention was that, with the Magic artists that we have on hand, you would be able to take the table number, have some of the artists sign, or sketch on them, and keep something unique and cool from the event.  Table numbers 1-16 will be given to the players who finished in the their respective top 16 position.

And if you don't get a chance to have an artist do work for you on Saturday, please remember that Jeff Menges and Dan Frazier will both be at Comic Book Depot on Sunday.

I also picked up the team trophy and the victor's trophy this past weekend, and will post pictures of both soon.

Curious about the team portion of this event.  What is the max/ min number of players in a team.  In general does a larger team give you more opportunities for points as in a larger number of total matches?  Last when/ how do we register a team.

Curious about the team portion of this event.  What is the max/ min number of players in a team.  In general does a larger team give you more opportunities for points as in a larger number of total matches?  Last when/ how do we register a team.

Teams of precisely three players will be eligible to sign up the morning of the event, as the team participants are completing their deck registration sheets.  On the top right corner of the deck registration sheet, each team will list their team name (which will not be NSFW, and will be something that I can post on TMD).  Underneath the team name, each team will list the three players on their team.

Each player will earn three points per win, one point per draw, and no points per loss.  Top eight will count towards points for the team race, but no additional weight will be granted (so if you won the event, you'd get three points for winning your top eight match, three points for winning your top four match, and three points for winning the finals, for a grand total of nine additional points added to whatever you and your teammates have accrued).

I hope this is clear, but if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Two days and seven hours left on pre-registration.  We're right around 70 players at the moment.  We've added quite a few in the last 24 hours.

I had mentioned this in the main-body announcement, but there is an attendance max of 150 players.  If you pre-register for the event, you guarantee yourself your seat.  If we get up around 130 or so, and 30 guys show up the day of the event, I don't know how I would fit the last 10 guys.  Please keep this in mind when considering pre-registering for the event.  I would hate to turn people away at the door.

Gents, I've been keeping up with the pre-registration list as best I can, but I know I'm missing at least two names.  I'll double check it tonight, when I have some time, but if you see that your name is missing, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Pre-registration is closed, and we're at 112 entrants.

There will be a few more N.Y.S.E. Open III qualifiers on Long Island before the event.  If you haven't pre-registered, and still want to qualify, there will be an event at Comic Book Depot this Sunday.  The details on that announcement will be up later today.

Additionally, if you're a T/O who's interested in running a last-minute N.Y.S.E. Open qualifier, please reach out to me.

We are very close to the break-even point for this event, and I expect that with last minute stragglers, we'll hit that point.

I am very much looking forward to seeing everybody at the end of the month.  A lot of work has gone into this event, I think it's going to be the best event that I've ever run, and I hope you're all happy with the result.

EDIT:  Please contact me if you have any issues regarding registration.

EDIT:  115, as I missed Dan Gould last night.

EDIT #2:  118.  This is now the biggest event I've ever run by more than 25 players.  Wild.

150 is a hell of a number to hit, and if we hit it, I'm ecstatic.

Capping an event's attendance is a tough call, but I don't want this to get too big because I want to make it the best event that I can, and I feel like things are going to start getting lost once we push past that ballpark.

I know 150 isn't really an intimate number, but I really do want to feel like I still have control over everyone's quality of experience, and I think 150 is stretching me as is.  I have had a lot of help on this event, for which I am exceptionally grateful, but if we hit the day where there were more than 150 guys aiming to go, I'd have to really re-think how to handle this moving forward.

And with that said, we're now at 121.
