I really liked the article - please keep up the good work!

I think with regard to the end of your article, a lot Magic players seem to just like to bitch, regardless of the format. I play Vintage BECAUSE I like the high variance and overpowered plays. So when I get blown out, it's part of the fun in my opinion. We had a group that played for a while in Towson, MD and I never understood why Mind's Desire was restricted until the first time someone resolved it against me. Shuffle, spell, shuffle, spell...12 times in a row. I lost that game in glorious fashion. Vintage FEELS like epic, pre-mending Planeswalkers throwing the might of the multiverse at one another. Every other format is just another spin on limited to me.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

I'm glad you liked the final segment as well. Some of the issues I touched on are ones that I have dealt with myself. I've since changed my thinking, but I believe that many others have not.
If you think about an idea like consistency, one deck might be more consistent than another even if they use some of the same cards. In a grixis-colored deck that runs all of the moxen, some draws will be significantly stronger if the pilot draws Sapphire, Jet, and/or Ruby over off-colored ones. A Stax deck uses it's moxen as if they read: "(o)

: add

to your mana pool". It's like they have five of the same card in their deck.
So, there are consistent decks in the format if that's your cup of tea. If you like wild, swingy games, then Vintage has a deck or two for you as well.
