Spellskite vs Comet Storm

I have Spellskite and a bunch of sweet creatures in play. My opponent plays Comet Storm with multiple kickers to wipe my team. I masterfully use blue mana and 2 life to try to save two other creatures from their fiery doom. ALL targeted guys die.

Why?

Spellskite is already being targeted and thus can't be simulataniously targeted again by the same spell.  It's the same reason I can't target my opponent multiple times with comet storm.

ah. My opponent said something about the word "each" being important, but it's "another target creature/player" that's important. Thanks!
