Hi,

I stumbled upon this browsing various reports on TMD:

G1 I win the roll and after some time we're throwing haymakers at each other and I get Wurmcoil online, Toby responds with his own Wurmcoil, I then get forgemaster online and sack my wurmcoil (tokens, value!) to it to fetch duplicant to remove his wurmcoil. He activates his forgemaster in response and gets revoker to shut off my forgemaster (he had to sack his) and in a couple turns later I land hellkite and end the game with the pumping flyer

This is illegal right?
He could not shut off forgemaster with revoker in response since ability is already on the stack, and he didn't have priority to cast revoker before forgemasters ability is payed (tap+sac)?

Kuldotha Forgemaster
Artifact Creature — Construct
Tap, Sacrifice three artifacts: Search your library for an artifact card and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library.

Phyrexian Revoker
As Phyrexian Revoker enters the battlefield, name a nonland card.
Activated abilities of sources with the chosen name can't be activated.

Gameplan was probably to not give his opponent a 6/6 by removing his own Wurmcoil that was bring targeted by the Duplicant, then proactively cutting him off from Forgemastering again later in the game by putting Revoker in play (not reactively to the previous activation).  I assume that he drew Steel Hellkite later, which was savage but awesome.

I read it the same way, I think he meant to shut off his future forgemaster activations and leave duplicant a 2/4, not to go back in time somehow.

Though the Duplicant can simply remove the Revoker, leaving a 2/1 and allowing forgemaster to get more answers (like the Hellkite that was drawn naturally).

No, Duplicant's ability targets.  So if he did it in response to Duplicant's ability targeting wurmcoil (and presumably sacc'd the wurmcoil to help pay the cost)[which is how I read it], Duplicant's ability would fizzle.

I read it as the second forgemaster activation was in response to the first activation, because the original question was about stopping the first forgemaster activation. But yes, if the first forgemaster ability resolved, then duplicant's targeted ability can be responded to.
