The Comic Book Depot will be running a $1,000 credit Vintage event!  We've raised the price to $30.00 so that even at 27 players we will be able to give away $1,000 store credit.

The details:

What:

$30 (cash only), 15 proxy, unsanctioned Vintage tournament.

Prize structure for 27 competitors:

1st: $400 store credit
2nd: $200 store credit
3rd-4th: $100 store credit
5th-8th: $50 store credit

Where:

The Comic Book Depot
2847 Jerusalem Avenue
Wantagh, NY 11793-2016
(516) 221-9337

When:

Sunday, November 22nd
12:00 pm registration
1:00 pm start

The aforementioned prizes are in store credit only, based on attendance of 27 players.  If you do the math, at 27 players we only take in $810 and give out $1,000 in credit.  The prizes will fluctuate if we go lower than 27 players.  Any changes in support will be announced during the first round of the event.

I think this will be a great way to step up our game and be the best place on Long Island to play Vintage!

What does everyone think?

I'd like to thank everyone in the Vintage community; this is the only format I play and you guys are the best, the nicest players around.  I always look forward to our Sunday Depot events!

I look forward to seeing you all here!

Depot is already the best place to play Vintage on Long Island, Alan.  You've done a phenomenal job.  Thank you for supporting the community!

For anyone on the fence about attending, Depot is a great place to play.  The store is clean, the staff is helpful and courteous, and Alan has a great selection of singles.

I think my schedule is freed up enough for me to get down from CT for this. I had a great time at the last Depot event I went to.

Question for the Long Island regulars: is traffic on the Cross Island and Southern State parkway always completely miserable? Last time I was driving during prime beach weather, so maybe it was worse than usual, or maybe it's always that way? Just curious.

The Cross Island is a gamble.  Traffic is weather unrelated.  Sunday traffic on the Cross Island is usually just a slowdown, not anything serious.  It's annoying more than anything else.

The Southern State is fine if you're out early enough.  Once you hit 11:00 am, the Sunday drivers are out en masse.  I loathe them.  Once again, the parkway will be slow, but it'll be moving.

The traffic will be better than during beach season, regardless.  If I were you, I'd aim to be at Depot a little earlier (11:00 am), and then just enjoy a late breakfast at the bakery next door, or an early lunch at the pizzeria around the corner.
