We got 13 intrepid participants for a sanctioned Vintage FNM at Giga-Bites Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia. The moderate success of firing two sanctioned events in the last month has encouraged the owners to continue with a monthly Vintage FNM.

It was covered live at

http://www.twitch.tv/tuskvision

If you enjoy vintage, or idiocy, or beta duals please subscribe to our channel!

The stream has been uploaded to YouTube

(Part 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-phFzlTJxs

(Part 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVceDTM82Sc

We had additional prizes for unpowered. We had 4 (?) unpowered participants, 1 purely by choice.

I actually wrote down everyone's deck choices

Me - Chromium Blade - (U/w/b stoneblade and hatebears)
(UP) Zack - The Wheel of Pain - (U/r/g lands with Fastbond, P-Fire, Crucible, Intuition)
Matt - Powered Ten Pillar (4 Pyrostatic, 4 Eidolon, 2 SCB -- nice storm deck!)
(UP) Iman - Los Desperdicios  (Mono White Arbiter Hatebears)
Chris - Oath of Chimps (Griselderp)
Josh - Dumpster Fire Dredge (Dredge with Unmask Main)
(UP) Will - 6 Demon Bag (Thopter combo with Ashnods Altar)
Ted - Opal Shops (Big Mana shops)
(UP) Mike - Junk Haterade (WGB hatebears, 2 x ESG)
Brian - Dromar's Hate Squad (U/w/b hatebears with Stony)
Evan - Two Card Go Fish (B/g Hexmage Depths)
Morgan - Mentor, Mage, Mountain (U/w/r Mentor with Trinket Mages)
(UP) Jon - Unpowered Ten Pillar (Bolt You)

We played 4 rounds of Swiss to the amazement of Standard and My Little Pony players who had never seen power before.

Final Standings
1. Me - Chromium Blade
2. Mike - Junk Haterade (double dipped with unpowered prize!)
3. Zack - The Wheel of Pain (double dipped also!)
4. Morgan - Mentor, Mage, Mountain

Get rekked.

Sometimes you win the roll and have lotus, sfm, batterskull, hold up fetch vs. shops.

Sometimes you have 7 restricted cards in your graveyard by your third turn, after a turn 1 Sphinx. With like 5 more counterspells still in hand.

Sometimes Chris Pikula is Mind Twist on a 2/2. (then sometimes you forget what he's naming, blinded by your opponents hideous foil promos)

Who knew Strip Mine was good in lands?

Did I miss something or during the first game shouldn't he have either had a Marit Lage after the counter battle, or he should have had an extra 20 life?

I'll check it out, I think the first match is just a warm up. We didn't have commentary or accurate (?) life until round 2. Our commentary monkey showed up late!

He activates stage with depths in play, the guy casts StP, the DD player casts Misstep, Mentor player casts Flusterstorm, then the DD player casts a second Misstep, either targeting the Flusterstorm by mistake giving him 20 extra life, or Missteping the StP, resolving in a Marit Lage.

LOL, well I think he punts savagely. But his opponent (in the Tusk shirt) verbally acknowledges his life total of 40. I can't see what else Morgan (on the right) had in hand or whether he should have been dead to Cthulu. Either way, good for him it was a warm up match :p

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. Hopefully we'll be streaming live sanctioned vintage once a month. The organizer is stoked that it fired!

Friday, February 5at 8 PM, get Ziggy out, he is a coward who has missed the previous two. He's still scarred from GP Atlanta.

We have drinking plans, so killing two birds with one stone is always good.

I think he lives really close to giga, don't know why he doesn't make it.

Isn't that what Solo cups are for?
