Well, I've been messing around with a deck like this ever since I saw Mirrodin (which happened to be when I came back to Magic). I was incredibly please when I saw some of the Darksteel spoiler, and I've been working with this for the last several weeks. It dies horribly to mass artifact destruction, of course, and an early Null Rod kind of says that I lose; that's why it's casual. I'd be greatly obliged by any suggestions for it, though.

4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Great Furnace
4 Tree of Tales
4 Seat of the Synod
2 Ancient Den
1 Mox Sapphire (it's the only Mox/Lotus that I own Sad)
1 Lotus Petal
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Grim Monolith
4 Metalworker
1 Voltaic Key

4 Lightning Greaves
4 Skullclamp
4 Myr Incubator
4 Frogmite
4 Myr Enforcer
4 Lodestone Myr
4 Arcbound Ravager
3 Juggernaut

I'd love to replace the Juggernauts. I could probably pull another Den for a fourth of whatever they get replaced with (I only have three because I could only find three and didn't feel like trying to get a fourth). I've tried Arcbound Crushers, but they're too slow. Currently, though, I'm pretty happy with everything else. Skullclamp is incredible.

I know that the deck is very susceptible to hate, but I haven't really found any answers that I like. Suggestions are, of course, most welcome.

I'm sure somebody else has been working on this, right?

Thank you for your time.

It is an interesting idea, but it looks like it shares Affinity's base - artifact lands and all. That means it suffers from all the hate that Affinity suffers from. However, because there's no colour splashing going on, it doesn't enjoy any of Affinity's benefits, ie: Thoughtcast, Thirst for Knowledge, Broodstar, Shrapnel Blast.

But you've posted it as a casual deck, so you probably are aware of all of that. Would spellbombs be out of the question? You have coloured mana available and strictly speaking, they are artifacts. AEther and Pyrite Spellbombs are always useful. You might try Arcbound Slith or Arcbound Worker in place of Juggernaut. They're cheaper, which can't hurt your mana curve, and they have neat synergy with Skullclamp. Also, have you tried Skeleton Shard?

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Yeah, I cry in the face of hate, and then I hope that I can get an Incubator activated second turn and win third turn before the hate has a chance to really hurt.

I have considered Spellbombs, the Slith, and the Worker. I'm going to try the Worker and see how that goes. It certainly will help the mana curve (which is just ugly right now, although it was uglier before the Ravagers went in).

Generally, I didn't find the two Spellbombs that useful, although I do have some of each in the SB. They might still find their way into the MD, though; I have to play it some more. Speaking of which, the SB currently includes some Elf Replicas, Goblin Replicas, AEther Spellbombs, and Pyrite Spellbombs; I haven't finished it yet, and it isn't that high on the list, given that the deck is casual.

Yeah, this is basically a bad version of affinity. I like being able to sit down with a stack of 60 artifacts, though. It's just neat. Smile

Thanks for the comments. I'd forgotten about the Worker.

Have you ever thought about Monkey Cage? It makes non-artifact tokens, which could help against hate. It might be too slow for you though, costing 5 mana on its own, and needing a reasonably expensive creature (4+ cc?) to make it really work well, but it's a tremendously fun card.
